Just a heads up, it seems the INPA cable does not work for the open source tuning (yet). BT cable is the only confirmed method, but there appears to be R&D going on for additional methods.

Awesome, was wondering when this was going to happen. Are you going to pick one up? I did happen to find a Unlimited VIN one for just $100 more but ahh don't know now I am waiting to see when the source will become available so we can just use the ebay cable...

Wait, open flash, this is all new to me - did someone release open source maps and software for tuning the N54? That is, basically a COBB flash for free? Who's behind the maps, are they tested and trustworthy?

Open Flash Program free - Yes
Like Cobb - Kinda\Yes - "currently being worked on to use with Android device".
Maps - All depends, people are running custom / vishu maps - Trustworthy all depends on who u got the map from and who the tuner was.

You need to get off e90post and run over to the other forum "Bi*merB**t" lots of great "Technical" Discussions over there as opposed to "how my muffler sounds" post here.

Yes, most likely. I'm willing to spend $180 on a cable that is better quality and more reputable than the eBay stuff if suggested. It would be nice to have the BT software also. Still actually considering the 3 license version to cover the girl's E90 as well.

I poked around on there briefly and most of it seemed over my head. I never bothered tuning my car because I'm not particularly knowledgeable on how everything works under the hood - I'm not the type who cares about having a boost display in their car and constantly tweaking things. What I did want was a "set it and forget it" manner of pushing my car up to 400bhp and having the car feel exactly like stock, just faster - no worrying or further thought necessary on my end. As far as I can tell, such a solution does not exist.

Cobb gives you that with a price tag.

Open source is great as long as you can tune a map or find a reliably tuned map. Definitely no set and forget as of now.

Will Cobb get me anywhere near 400bhp? From what I've read, Cobb isn't particularly aggressive and I'd be looking at 360bhp tops.

I'm at 430 protune on e85 mix.

404 same Dyno. Same mods on 93.

This is with an xi. A rear wheel n54 will make a bit more.

Honestly I just run the conservative off the shelf stg2 with stock throttle. Seems to be better on gas around the city. Maybe that's the map you're thinking about. I think it's somewhere in the 300 range.

Island are you still around Brighton? Let me know when you get set up with the cable. I'd be curious what you can do with it!

Ya i am, just waiting for this thing to come in the mail so I can set it up today. How do you like your Etune? Would be nice to start with a E30 Bin though Shiv OTS map will have to do for now.
