In these sketches, you can clearly see the new 240i's bolder design cues, developed further both at the front and rear of vehicle. Too bad Jose Casas and team didn't or couldn't go in this direction. The leaked car photos look nothing like these concept schematics.

Although they do tend to update the lights on LCI models, I've never seen them update the form factor. It requires too much design, engineering and retooling to change the quarter panels and trunk lid to accommodate. I expect an aesthetic design change to the internals of the light housing, but nothing else.

Most recent was the E90, inner portion of tail lights required a new trunk. I remember pre-LCI M3 owners buying new trunks to upgrade to LCI tail lights. |

Can you link an example? I've never seen that be the case.

I feel sorry for the Mexican manufacturing team. They, after all, build to spec whatever Munich designs for them. |

Why did you delete the photos ⁉️
You're on the front page and then you delete them…. Good Lord ‼️

Joking…I get you. But it's the same with all manufacturers and their sport lines…AMG is not different. Those badges are desirable, so probably they think that way they attract even more to spend a bit more for an „M line" version. |

I agree that the car is more or less the finished product, alas, I can't help but believe that the rear diffuser is either misleading us, or missing a finishing piece. When looking at the m3 and the 240i, BMW diffusers typically have an aesthetic cohesion with the bumper. Sometimes they flow up over a bit, or melt together as if they're one piece. On the new m2, it's as if the bumper is a sharp lip, which hangs over the diffuser. As if you could hook your fingers under the bumper and pull it out from the car. It looks beyond unfinished, and the camo car has a plate covering this section, which lends credence to there being a missing piece we haven't yet seen. Or so I hope.

Edit, I forgot about the rear LCI on the E90 as mentioned above. These days though it is not a 100% guarantee that the rear end of the vehicle will see any updating via an LCI. The G07 X7 just received a minor update to the rear end unlike the front that was significantly updated. Last edited by T_U_D; 09-26-2022 at 04:41 PM.. |
