Ordered the Aquamist HFS-2 methanol injection kit for N54 !

Well, I started a shopping spree lately in order to finish my car's transformation into a little monster...and also to try to end my obsessions before the New Year

Today I have ordered the Aquamist HFS-2 kit from Howerton Engineering which in its classic form starts at $500. The kit sold by Howerton is especially modified for the N54 engine and includes modifications for reading the N54-specific Direct Injection injectors, a different injector, some wire harnesses, a fluid tank, etc.

Things that made me go for this kit were:

- It has an injector for methanol instead of a nozzle. Similar to the fuel injectors. The injector is pulse triggered by the control box and the pressure to the injector is constant. The precision and timing are much higher than on the other systems. There is no inertia and slow pressure buildup.

- It uses the fuel injectors duty cycle AND/OR boost for spraying. I would like to believe that the fuel/methanol ratio and thus octane can be kept constant using these settings.

Unfortunately, the HFS-2 doesn't have a failsafe but can be upgraded anytime to HFS-3 which does have one. I am interested in a solid methanol injection system to use with my GIAC Stage 2 Race flash.

Here is a nice video on the Aquamist atomisation:

Here is a video on the usual progressive pump speed atomisation:

I will post my impressions once I will install the kit, but unfortunately I don't think it will happen very soon, because I think the install will be quite complicated (maybe I'm wrong though...)
