Junction Box replacement questions
So it looks like my Jbe is taking a crap. I jumped on to real oem to look up the parts number for the junction box and came up with these 3; 61359231468,61359329800,61359364819. From there I did an ebay search to see if I could find a good, tested used one and am coming up with nothing other than new.
Can any one tell me if there are other junction box part numbers that are compatible with my vehicle ? VIN: WBAPM73579A366366 Thank you guys in advance !!! |

So about 2 months ago I started getting random odd electrical issues. I will liste them out below in the order they happened. I will also post icarly fault scans.
Electrical issues: 1)Mirrors fold out on lock/ in on unlock 2)Tpms reciever wont read. replace wont read eventually just starts working again 3)Random ac fault codes, can bus errors, failed jbe box errors 4)02 sensors after going ceramic coated catless intermittently read max. 5)Replaced and checked mating surface for clean ground. Still randomly go max reading in mhd, throws codes. 6)Intermittent studder, ignition miss fire across both banks. clear codes runs like a raped ape again with no miss fires. 7) Random but more consistent cluster failure. Tach, spedo, miles and trip blank out or drop to 0. Car comes up with Electrical failure message please pull over. Click okay in idrive and goes away. Massive number of stored codes Here are the most recent carly fault scans that I have with dates. 09/28/17 [/IMG]photos.app.goo.gl/D1lccOiJyEf8dRr73"[/IMG] [/IMG]photos.app.goo.gl/d4kJ6ENj1Q7BBR5x1"[/IMG] [/IMG]photos.app.goo.gl/xNfnGf61zBX5mLw12[/IMG] Last edited by Derek.Hohn; 09-29-2017 at 02:47 PM.. |

Have you checked to make sure the Fuse Box Power Feed Wire Recall was done on your car? You can search on the US Recall Website using your Vin#. When the connection starts to go bad, it will start to do weird things. This happens because of the bad connection causing resistance and voltage drop until it completely melts and ruins the JB. The Fuse Box is the JB. The JBE is attached to the JB & slides into the JB via the open slot on the bottom of the JB(fuse box). When re-installing the JBE make sure to push it back in slow and ensure the internal connection pins go in the connector straight. The JBE gets it power feed from this connection thru the JB. The JBE also has 3 other connectors on the front & back, total of 4. These connectors go out to the main body/interior wiring harness and is the power supply side of the system. Including the power feeds for most of the modules, including the Instrument Cluster, CAS, FRM, etc. Last edited by AWDBooSTIn90; 10-02-2017 at 06:41 PM.. |

Hate reviving an old thread or being “that” person but everyone can use some more knowledge/help this is why these forums are so great.
I’m having a similier issue on a 09 335i I own. This problem started after an ecu being bricked from a Cobb tune “uninstall” when the battery went dead it did something to the electronics / ecu whatever. Not very electronic inclined.. Long story short, had it towed to Bmw dealer to reflash ecu back to stock since it was not starting cas module or ecu messed up. Anyways they could not communicate with it to get it to reflash.. wanted to throw a cas module at it to start for a sum of around $1500.. paid them the $279 diagnostic fee and had it towed to another shop.. They had the ecu and cas sent out somewhere to reflash / fix for a sum of around $1100 installed. This got the car back up and running. (Yay) well than the symptoms original poster stated I’m getting.. Leaving car sitting over night on a cooler night (35 degrees or less ) I start the car in the morning and it’s a Christmas tree.. electronic malfunctions lights, dcs, abs etc. let it run for a minute or two.. than re start it and it is fine. Battery is 7 year old Bmw dealer battery but still starts car just fine. Never had died yet kr needed jumped. Was thinking it was just a weak battery… could be.. idk.. but after reading this forum and it only happening during cooler months and is gone in summer time I’m starting to think a module kr the JBE or whatever.. I just don’t know where to start |

Also my Speedo jumps to 0 from the current speed I’m driving at then back to current speed.
Also getting a parking light coming on from I drive every couple minutes or so, and my back windows sometime won’t roll up you got to click the button again and then they will |

There are a lot of things that could cause these issues. Bad connections and shorts, dead modules that have internal shorts, etc.
I had nearly all of these symptoms and it turned out it was galvanic-corroded connector in an RDC module (the 2006-2009 version in the trunk, not the little stick underneath). It shorted out the KCAN bus lines and everything freaked out. About 5 years later, I had basically the same symptoms. Speedo would drop to zero and reset, electrical fault messages, etc. Turned out my right rear tail light was leaking and there was 2 gallons of water floating around the battery sloshing up and shorting things out. There's the recall issue where the battery cable at the fuse box arcs and melts/burns the JBE. The cables that run from the battery to the JBE could be damaged underneath, or the connection through the body under the battery could be corroded. The JBE could have water damage, from the cowling/windshield seal area. I've had mice climb up above the wheel liners and chew into wires, have had evidence of them under the trunk liner too. And this is just what I've seen in my limited experience. Lots of other possibilities. Generally there isn't a single solution to these big electrical fault situations, you gotta check the basics, check for shorts, and ISTA/D is your friend. If there are bus faults, unplug all the modules on that bus until the fault goes away then plug them back in one by one, with the battery disconnected between each one. Plan to possibly destroy a module or two in the diagnosis process... I lost an FRM just from the arc of attaching the battery lead when I was trying to figure one of these out. Fortunately a used parts yard near me had one for 50 bucks.
