Probably a bit, but don't expect CSL numbers. Will be neglectable.

Depends if you think you have enough pull with your dealer. It will be be limited numbers based on previous CS models and flippers will be all over them assuming we aren’t back in the Great Depression or WW 3 by then.

Hahaha.... Hard to see how we won't be. MSRP might be $200k by then. Still put a deposit down in case I have a wheelbarrow full of $.

I'm going to wait on this. Turning my G87 into a racecar for roll racing, I had considered holding off and getting an early CS, but I think I've just completely changed my mind.

My car already had the 827m wheels, I already have the CSL brace, I can get the buckets when I'm ready which I don't need now. The only other thing would be the rear seat delete if they do that, but I could probably just source the parts. Even the CSL sway bars and knuckles can be swapped.

I'll keep my current G87, build this one, then at the end of the production line if I'm in a position, I'll buy a CS and keep it relatively stock. I really just want to be able to order the car in a really cool color and I want those orange carbon buckets.

Was really hoping for more with the CS. Should have realized it's a 2 series they won't give us everything.

More money to turn my car up I guess!

I think i have enough? I bought a 230i and a F87C from them and my dad bought a X5D from them. Due to the F87C purchase they were willing to sell me a G87 for under MSRP, so i might be able to pull MSRP for a CS. But thats also if i feel like it would be worth the wait and the extra price. Part of me feels like if i was going to wait that long, and pay that much, i should just get a Porsche GTS 4.0 instead.

You may be in with a chance then. Also depends if you plan to mod the M2 the just get a base, CS should be left alone IMO.

With regards to the Porsche if it’s a genuine option and you’ve never had one I’d go Porsche. I have a ZB G87 and a 991.2 GTS in Gulf blue and I love them both but if you forced me to drop one it would be the M2. Never driven a Cayman 4.0 but can’t imagine it’s not awesome.

I’m shocked that there is no planned production until mid 2025, which effectively means you’ll struggle to buy one until 2026 at the earliest.

Auto only for the CS is a strong signal that the manual was an afterthought for the G87/S58. People said the same about the F87 but there a manual was offered throughout. Still, I’ve heard the manual is improved in the G87, although it still gets some of the “rubbery” feel of all BMW shifters.

The 6MT in the G8x is better/"improved" than on the F8x, but still recognizable feel and throws of the BMW over the years. I MUCH prefer it over the Toyota or Porsche "click-click" type of shifts, although the long throws could be shortened. The clutch again -- is recognizable BMW type of clutch. It gets better with the mileage though...

The manual is torque limited by ZF to 600Nm and nominally by BMW to 550Nm (probably as they know their published figures are under estimates of typical output for a given engine). This is the main reason why the G8x vehicles don't have the option of a manual in the CS variants and the M4 CSL has torque limits applied to keep within the 550Nm spec.

The G87 manual feel is quite good, above average for any manual car and as good as any BMW I have driven in the past, even though it is not in the top echelon of all manual transmissions.

I’m actually coming from Porsche. Had a 2023 GT4 but it ended up being a lemon so I gave it back. Wanted to go with a different car because I know right now if I get another Porsche I’m just going to be sad it’s not the one I ordered. Plan is for a GT3 in the next 5 years or so.

Rough guess is around 210lbs over a Non-CF roof, standard seat car.

PLEASE offer this car in decent colors, my lord. Complete and utter fail for the M5CS, M4CSL, and M3CS.

I’m ordering a M2 (2025) next fall. Crossing my fingers they offer xdrive. The CS is way too much over my budget but I can’t wait to see them

Saddens me to read this, Porsche build isn’t what it used to be, dam I feel old saying that but it’s true. The engineering is there but the quality control isn’t anymore.

Given your crappy experience I would just get into whatever M2 I could as fast as possible and start enjoying hooning again. We could all be dead tmr drive what you can whilst you can screw waiting for the best residual or car with a better badge. Waiting for the CS didn’t make sense to me would mean not having fun for another year at least.

If you've ever pushed a G series car on track you know just how insane the car really is. The CS or CSL or whatever this special edition is, is going to be an amazing car, far beyond what the vast majority of drivers on this or any forum are capable of. It's going to be a track monster in the right hands.
I for one am going to skip it though, since I'd like to daily it (needs to be a manual) and I don't have the disposable income for a six figure track car.

    Automatic transmission only.
Unlike the gigantic leap between the N55 M2 to the S55 M2 Comp, I don’t really see the CS becoming something worth considering upgrading from a standard M2 from.

Ultimately theres just not much BMW can do to make it that much better. Engine and Interior will be unchanged, carbon fiber bits aren’t really going to drastically change the weight on an already heavy model, engine tuning won’t compare with what is already available, unlike the CS on the F87 this car already comes equipped with EDC.

The absolutely only thing BMW could do to sway current owners to upgrade is to revolutionise the design and make it attractive to the mainstream so it’s a bigger flex to own.

With this gen I really see the aftermarket being the better option. Evolve already has shown us what CSL parts can be thrown in, FEMTO has figured out how to unlock ECU, Alpha-N and AutoID have figured out a much better non-oem cosmetic mod choice.

I think BMW should widen the axles, put some addtl fender flares on it, a larger rear wing, power dome hood, rear seat delete and addtl power.

Color should be British Racing Green (w bronze M3 CS wheels) or Frozen Solid White Metallic like the M3 CS - or the iconic Avus Blau. Not too many options. My two cents…

Damn, that sucks and sorry to hear that. No interest in the 4RS?

On the M2 front, I think the CS will be the one to get.

Only automatic?

I drove an Automatic M3 on track my word that auto box is boring. As an every day transportation car it is fine.
