M2 G87 Boot / Trunk not auto opening

At first service asked the dealer to check the function of the boot release (it unlocks but the gas struts are not pushing it open) and was told this is correct - is this a common experience as previous BMW,s have opened and it seems an odd downgrade given the car has “comfort access”
Aftermarket gas struts to push the boot open are available and does any one have any experience of these. Thanks.

I dont believe that the trunk / boot is meant to open but only pop then you have to lift it...

mine doesn't even seem to pop up even a little when I use the clicker. If you had an auto-opening trunk and this matters to you it's definitely a downgrade.

Edit: missed the part asking about aftermarket - no idea! buy them and post your results

It's not a power trunk, you do have to lift it up & close it. Oh the horror
