SCCA B-Street Discussion

Let's kick this of to see if anyone will competing in B-Street with the G87 M2.

I attended my first national event at the NJ Pro with the G87 this past weekend.

Setup:
Apex 19x9.5 ET25 with 12mm spacer - 285/35/19 RE71rs
Apex 19x10.5 ET18 with 5mm spacer - 285/35/19 RE71rs
Car is aligned:
2.3 Front camber (bmw correction hubs)
2.0 Rear camber
0 toe front
.2 total rear toe-in.

Results, finished 3rd of 19 in class and 23rd/233 in pax. 1st & 2nd were friends codriving a supra that is what I would call "fully developed". For Prosolos the supra has an advantage getting off the line however I think the G87 is right there with them on course.

SCCA scales:
Supra: 3350lbs 1/4 tank
G87 M2: 3750 (auto, carbon pack) 1/2 tank. I also have all the cooler guards including a skid plate as hitting any of those with a cone will end your day real quick.

Impressions:
Car balance is good, slightly loose on entry, Neutral mid corner (depends how you trail it in), slightly loose on exit (depends on throttle application.) Power is great, the auto gearing is not exactly ideal as you will be shifting up and down each run btwn 2nd and 3rd, but I don't see it as a disadvantage, just one more thing to do. Second gear tops out at 55-56mph.

Great stuff OP! I literally live across from MetLife and I’ve been wanting to get into AutoX once my g87 arrives. Where do I find out event info?

www.autox4u.com is good place to start to see schedules of all "local" events in the area, scca and some others. If this will be your first taste of autox I would suggest running the car stock, if you like it and get hooked, then you can mod to whatever class you want. For reference I plan on running the lowest modification class which allows only the following:

Factory width wheels +/- 7mm on the offset. You can go up or down on the diameter 1 inch. One sway bar (front or rear), catback exhaust (factory cats must remain in place) and lastly you can do shocks, but can't touch the springs (gets a little tricky imo and very expensive quick if you decided to do legal shocks). Lastly any camber adjustment that is manufacture approved is allowed (camber hubs in this example).

No, the car is just classed different with the MP port suspension.

Great stuff with the g87! I'll be running today's MetLife autocross in BS (granted, also in novice) so I'm curious to see how my car shakes up in comparison

Ran a 1:02.4, third in the novice class. I'm absolutely the limiting factor compared to the car, as me trying to learn the car's limits definitely felt nerve wracking as I tried not to have the rear end step out. The car felt good overall but I did notice the sway was a little more than I'd like, and the PS4S felt a little more slippery near my last runs.
