I've gone with the shifter surround and the charger bay door in gloss carbon as well, should match up with the M illuminated dash trim fairly well.

Very thin so I think they will be hard to notice that they’re overlays. Boxing was good. Plenty of tape. Haven’t installed yet. Gonna dry fit and see how it looks. Will take some pics.

Not taped down yet. Just laid down. No gaps anywhere. The overlays sit very flush. Looks better than the piano black. I think you would have a very hardtime identifying this as an overlay. I have wicked bad OCD. These pieces fit very tight. Not gaps and flush. My only issue at the moment is the CF piece for the door over the wireless charger is slightly bent/warped. Not creased. It’s just not flat. I think the tape will fix that once I put in place. I am curious about this piece how it sits after taped and if it stays flush or starts to pull away from the tape.

The thickness of the double-sided tape brings it up a bit but it's close enough for me. You could try to find thinner tape if you want to keep it flush

For $129 I will take it. Looks much better than the piano black and really no gaps. You would have to be a BMW expert to know it’s an overlay. Much better match for the interior. Unpeeling the double-sided tape a PIA. The top small CF piece also a bit tricky. I had to remove it the first time. Missed the mark. But, good news is that overlay is removable and the tape is stronger than you would think. 😒

Now do I do the Amazon start button?

The right side shows some misalignment. I “massaged” that piece to better fitment. Might need to lift her and try to reseat. Gonna let it go for a bit before trying that. It’s tricky positioning the pieces with the double-sided tape.

I only put on the trim surround, the charging bay door I have open 98% of the time so I don't really think I will do that unless I'm bored at my house...

Looks great! The trick with the tape (after some trial and error) is to cut into the backside with a razor blade, then use it to peel up one side of the backing, then pull it back and the whole thing comes off. Took me longer to figure that out than I'd like to admit...

The CF overlay kit is great and is a must IMO. I bought this kit way before I took delivery and installed it the day I got the car. I just got the OEM CF door sill plates and the CF steering wheel kit along with M style CF paddle shifters will arrive early next week. I think these last few pieces will finish the interior.

I'd 100% do the red start button if I was you. Just make sure you get the one with the letters spaced out correctly.

I am very happy with the matte CF overlay from Ali. The opening/closing cubby gave me the most headache since it was such a surgical fit not to make it catch on top/bottom. I had to pull it off twice and finally got it perfect on the 3rd attempt. Smooth action with nothing catching and even on both sides (1st attempt was baaad). Lots of patience required. Kudos to the OP for the system of bending the red tape and then pulling it off after the pieces were in place. That saved a LOT of headaches along the way. All in all, I'll give my install a 9 (was a 7 after my 1st attempt before the correction of the cubby cover).

I just received my gloss CF kit and dry fit it, now questioning if I am going to install it:

1) I am unsure if I like the combo with the brushed console trim.
2) When the console / cupholder door is open (99% of the time for me) the original aluminum trim is exposed along the edge. I would have thought the CF would wrap all the way around.
3) Fingerprints almost as bad as piano black, just without as much reflection. Aluminum tetragon or what ever its called has none

The kit may be going in the classifieds soon.. Will take a better look towards the weekend

But it looks so good, just keep it clean. I really don't touch the surface of the CF so it stays free of fingerprints.

@MPR So I'm an idiot. I was only looking at it in my garage.. at night. I pulled out today into the Florida sun with the console piece dropped in place.. and it just popped.. wow.

I will be installing this weekend, but I do have 1 question, is the little elongated trim piece in the bottom / center of this picture for over the console / cupholder door?

Thanks... never really used Aliexpress before so the layout was throwing me off.

Looks like they only have the matte in 5 pieces 😑. Guess if can't hurt to have the other pieces if I change my mind someday.

When I installed on the cupholder door, I had to pull it back up to fix a misalignment. Now, a few days later the overlay is lifting, and I want to remove and reinstall.

Does anyone know part # or name of the suitably thin 3M tape or what thickness should be used (1 mil, 2 mil...)? It seems it would be a transfer tape, rather than a double-sided, but there are so many options..
