Yes, in theory I’m next. They also got their HEA cars today (one at each location)

Thanks for the info you provided. Apparently I couldn’t reply because I’m too new on the forum. Based on what you told me, I talked to my sales rep last night (she wasn’t aware they had gotten any allocations yet) and said if I may be waiting 3 or 4 years for an allocation, I might as well get on their list for the Comp when that comes out. I just didn’t want to get 3+ years down the road, find out the current model is discontinued and there are already 30 people in line ahead of me for the Comp. I’d never get a car. So now I’ve got 2 deposits in with them and I’m on 2 separate lists, and I’ll make the call which way to go whenever my number comes up.

She also didn’t mention their HEA cars coming in today. I’m guessing they’ll be mobbed this weekend because of it. Thanks for the info! Good luck with your allocation - I hope they get the next one for you soon!

I’m in N. Florida. I don’t know where my dealer sits in the pecking order as far as being high volume or not. They’ve always got M3s and M4s on the lot, at least since the start of this year, so apparently it’s not like they don’t get allocations for M cars. Unfortunately their wait list is full of customers from all over the state, because they sell their cars at MSRP, vs South Florida where apparently the ADMs are ridiculous.

I don’t need the car tomorrow and don’t want to pay an ADM. I was just wondering how the allocation system works. Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky and land on the year they do the LCI. Or at least other paint options.

Thank you for the information.
There are only a couple of dealers I am aware of charging ADMs in S Florida (which is really three locations). The wait lists are long, yes, but look at the population. I am aware of one dealer with 25+ people in line and they are MSRP only. Calling is hard because you will not get correct information by just speaking with a CA (customer advocate/advisor). You will need to speak with a sales manager or BDC/inventory manager to get straight answers and its very difficult to do this over the phone. A trip to the dealership will get you best and most straightforward answers.

I was #15 on my list in Jacksonville when I put my deposit down. Now their list is up to 20+. I’ll just stay where I’m at and wait it out and see what happens. At this point nobody actually seems to have a clue what the pace of allocations may be. It may be a few years to wait, but at this point in the game, being #15 (apparently now 14 since they got an allocation last week) doesn’t seem as bad as it could be jumping onto another dealer’s list now. I’m prepared to wait. I’ve got an F87 to hold me over until I get an allocation. And if it takes long enough, I’m also on my dealer’s wait list for the Comp, if and when that comes out. And from the length of that list I’m guessing I can probably get an allocation in the first year of production.

I put a deposit down for the cs/csl not a comp when I put the deposit down for the base M2. Besides the mix up about who was number one, my sales rep has been on point and reaches out to me with updates. He is on vacation and still called to let me know the HEA had arrived today.

Hmmm… You’re lucky. My rep has only been with them for about a year. I bought an X4 M40i from her last year and she was great to work with, so I went to her again. She assured me she’d keep me updated on allocations. But she’s junior and I’m afraid she may be a bit out of the loop. She actually started vacation today as well. Talked to her last night and she wasn’t aware they had gotten an allocation, wasn’t aware there had been a mixup with their list, wasn’t aware the HEAs would be arriving. I’m dealing directly with the sales manager regarding the list for the Comp. I would’ve gone the CS/CSL route as well, but I’m guessing it’s going to end up in the six figures, which I could do in theory, but at the same time I can’t stomach that price for this car.

Was just told by their sales manager that I’m #2 on their list for the Comp. So if it takes 3 or 4 years for me to get an allocation for the current model I’ll gladly take that instead as consolation lol.

Nice. Hopefully they start bumping the m2s out faster next year.

Hopefully you’ll get yours soon. Not just great for you, but then getting another allocation in the next few months would bode well for the whole process. You’ll have to keep us posted.

I would shop around... that is a crazy list. I picked a dealer an hour away but their list is still only 6-7 long, and they are all MSRP. I already got my #2 allocation.

Meanwhile a dealer 15 mins from me has a 3 year waitlist, and is charging $5k over for orders.

Don't be afraid to travel!

All local dealers near me want 5K -10K over. I drove an hour to another dealer who only quotes MSRP. The dealer is M Certified and high volume M cars mover because of no markup. I'm #22 and CA is expecting about 12 months wait. It could be sooner because there are always people dropping out. I have no rush to get one now, but love to have one in 2024.

Wow… 22 in 12 months? That would be a heck of a lot of allocations. They must be very high volume indeed. My dealer always has a fair amount of M cars moving through (not sure what constitutes “high volume”), but they’re telling me they have no idea how many they’ll get a year. I do know a CA there told another customer they’re hoping for 2 to 4 allocations this year.

Some dealerships have already received 5 allocations. And some people will drop off the list. They could have it in a year. But no one really knows.

This dealer has maintained consecutive, 8-time award recipient “Center of Excellence" from BMW.

When I stopped in Baron BMW (Kansas City) yesterday to drool over their just unloaded HEA. They already had fulfilled two allocations and expect two more at the end of April. The 4th was as yet unsold.

Honestly he was expecting to be able to have 12 this year no problem and expected they would buy a spec car by spring.

Never hurts to reach out.

I spoke with two different CAs from Barron today and received the following: CA #1- very young and self-assured informed me that they're getting more M cars than anyone and that I'd get my M2 by this summer. CA #2- much older, and wiser IMHO, had to call me back after checking with the new car GM, said I probably won't get one till 2024 if I put a deposit down now. Point being, be your best advocate, educate yourself, and if something seems to be too good to be true, it probably is.

Honestly, most of the time the CAs do not have or know all the information/details to be able to provide an accurate response.

Just FYI, I spoke directly with the sales manager on the floor yesterday. Even if they don’t get more allocations in April they certainly will in May which means a car in August/September latest. The next set might technically be a MY 24.

2024 production should commence in late August, but officially in September 2023. So, with the way allocations have currently been distributed figure mid to late July allocation for September production.

I just got my order was accepted and was told the car should be delivered in July. Does that sound correct?
