What Additive are you running?

Just curious what diesel additive everyone is running on their d? Any evidence that it helps reduce CBU?

Am at 42.5k miles. At under 10k miles roughly I started using PS Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost in the summer and PS Diesel Fuel Supplement + Cetane Boost in the winter. Use about 4 oz per complete fill up, proportionally less if fill up is less than a complete fill. NOTE: PS = Power Service.

Have no idea if it affects CBU, but my gut (and gut only) says no. I have used it as a mild injector cleaner (effectivity?) and cetane booster (effectivity?).

220 to 320 cc's of PS Diesel Kleen every fill up depending on how empty. The bottle says you can go double up for max cetane benefit. Its normally 1 oz (30 cm^3) per 3 gallons but its okay to go to 60 cm^3 per 3 gallons. It doesn't get cold enough in south Texas to bother switching to winter formula.

I run the BG conditioner and it keeps the injectors from getting fouled up, but the buildup is still building, it just may be a bit slower.

I run Motorcraft Powerstroke Cetane Booster & Performance Additive. Which I have always used in my F350's(Stanadyne I believe). Supposedly adds lubricity too. I work for a Motorcraft WD. Run about 3-4 ounces a tank. Not sure if it is preventing CBU. Bought my d with 51k and now has 54k. EGR cooler and EGR looked pretty clean when I replaced the thermostat and IC hose o-rings recently. Don't know what deposits lie further down the intake manifold.

I have been using Amsoil diesel injector clean and Amsoil diesel cetane boost since buying the car with 21k miles. I'm at 31.5k now. I think additives are good for the purpose of adding lubrication back into the fuel system. This is since the ulsd is a "dry" diesel with much of the lubricative properties stripped out as a byproduct of the emissions standards. I also think trying to raise cetane for fuel that may be only 40 cetane isn't a bad idea. Especially since BMW really wants 51 cetane to be used. Saw that vw tdi chart a while ago and looks like Shell may be 46 cetane. So hoping to add 3-5 points to get what the car should have in the first place. I guess to me it is the same as using 89 octane gas when BMW calls for 91 or better. It can get you by but isn't the greatest for your car.
