Ac issues / oscillations

Hi guys,

My ac usually needs a small charge every summer to get going . I haven’t really used the car until today and wanted to try the ac it worked for a bit then stopped so I figured I’d get some Freon from autozone. I connected the hose and found this weird pressure change . It will go from say 30-60psi and will raise the rpm’s with it? I didn’t know if anyone knew what was going on? I have some videos showing what’s happening but I’m trying to figure out how to get them on here

That’s normal in my experience if you’re super low on charge. My dodge truck does this. I keep pumping and it stabilizes. Also, try some avalanche triple seal in your AC. Stops every evaporator leak I’ve ever seen in its tracks.

Here you go:

I've got it in my e90 to stop a slow evaporator leak and it worked like a charm. Used it in several other vehicles since with much bigger leaks and stopped them every time!

If it needs a charge every year, it’s leaking somewhere. It’s better to change out the part that’s leaking, than running some sort of leak stop.

It’s the evaporator 9/10 times on these cars. I was quoted $3,600 for mine. Being that mine holds for several years at a ttime that’s hard to justify. Someone on the m3 forum recommended this stuff and it did the trick for my car and now several others

Stupid question I know but I figured I ask, is there any chance that my system isn’t actually leaking and I’m boiling off the fredrigernt from the single turbo? I have a ton of stuff melt in my engine bay despite taking every possible measure I can.

IMO probably not as if it was boiling your AC probably wouldn't work at all. That being said, anything is possible I suppose!

the passenger side line is running over the wheel well opening is where is leaks. The alu pipe oxidize with all the shit the tire's throwing, right under the pressure sensor.

Also, after market charge pipe tend to rub on the front a/c line, and you'll loose so refrigerant bit by bit.

condenser leak because they had a rock or debris from the road.

in any case you should find the leak, because it will find a way to the cabin for sure.
