I assume the G87 M2 will have the smaller gas tank? Is one of the reasons for the smaller gas tank to save weight?

I see APEX taxis Nurburgring ceased using their G80 as a lap car due it being so heavy that it wasn't viable as a lap car.
They have returned to the F80.

I genuinely fear the G87 is going to be to fat to meet my needs

Two things
1. I don't think weight will kill the G cars as nobody is using them as a dedicated track tool. The beauty of M cars is that they (well, used to be) fun dailies that you can track. With Apex, they are using the car as a dedicated track taxi, modifying it and running the track heavily. It just gets too expensive when you have a big ass car like the G80.
I just don't see that impacting a street car for most people. For others, we want nimble cars that can feel the road, but i'm not going to strip my M2C down for a track build if i'm dailying it.

2. Do you have a Avus Blue M3 Comp? If you do, please post some pictures, I love that color on the F80.

M240i X-Drive w/AT Curb Weight: 3,871 lbs (it's a real porker)

M240i X-Drive w/AT Weight Distribution: 52.6 / 47.4

BMW's global website shows the upcoming M240i RWD is 55kg (121 lbs) lighter than the X-Drive model.

My guesstimates are as follows...
  • Base G87 MT Curb Weight: 3,742 lbs
  • Base G87 AT Curb Weight: 3,780 lbs
  • Base G87 Weight Distribution: 52.1 / 47.9
What are your guestimates? Winner gets bragging rights, will be featured on the front page of bimmerpost and get an all expense paid trip to ///Mexico!
I think it will be somewhere along the lines of between the RWD and xDrive M240i weight.

completely agree but meant more for folks that want to track G cars on regular basis. The weight will drive cost of consumables and maybe other components up.

There is avus blue photo tread in F80 section but here are few, don't want to contaminate the thread

An M2 will obviously weigh more than a RWD M240i if both have a sunroof and power seats. The only question is if you can throw money into an M2 with carbon roof and seats to make up the weight difference inherent in the M2.
