More than likely, you’ll be seeing my rear, not the other way around.

Just looking it up, it appear prepreg is really the same stuff (polymer resin) injected into a mold if I’m understanding correctly….so still plastic with carbon fibers…..

I've seen similar damage before with my E36 M3. It happens due to pulling high lateral Gs and the stock "hangars" leaning too much to keep the exhaust dead center. Interesting how the whole thing just falls apart on the M2 though, must be poor material and design overall.

If that was the case on the G87, it would do the same on the other side, as the exhaust system is a single lateral box with 4 tips. There would also likely be some of the outer part of the diffuser still attached with the middle bit melted. I think the outer part of the diffuser somehow became detached before contacting the exhaust, likely through mechanical damage. Any thermoplastic of the type used for the diffuser would melt if contacting the exhaust, irrespective of quality.

I think the same. The outer clips of diffuser came unclip and bounced up/down contacting the exhaust.
