I made no more changes after that, though I think you might be able to change specs up to the point what production begins (which for me was February 13th). I hear that adding port-installed options can even be added up until you get to the port of destination. Though I’m not positive if these are the actual cutoff dates.
Thanks! Yeah I sent in a build code so he has an idea of what I am thinking but that can obviously change. I do plan on adding a few M Performance parts that will have to be addrd at the port so I think that would delay delivery a week or two but seeing I am a year out anyway, what’s a few more weeks.

I was on a waitlist and was informed early January that an allocation would be available. Once they have an allocation then you can spec the car/order. Next step is status 111, order accepted, then for me in a couple weeks went status 112, scheduled for production. Then was about a month before 150 - entered production. You can make changes to the order up to status 150, then it locks.

My m340i just switched from final assembly (3/27) to ready for transport yesterday. Are any of you east coasters in the same step as me? I guess I’m just waiting for a ship to take us from Veracruz to Brunswick now.

Gotcha! Thank you. Long wait but it is fun to spec out your car the way you want it. I did that for my current car and while the wait sucked donkey nuts it was a fun experience….especially on delivery day.

Thank you for the laugh . Yes the wait for these it seems is a bit more variable than from Germany. I’ve seen deliveries in just over 2 months to some describing 6-7 months for the carbon/paint delays. I’m striking my wait in VPC up to the MP HAS install but maybe it’s something else.

In the meantime been doing a lot of reading and nesting, with a bunch of stuff here awaiting its arrival.

Also waiting with you. Final assembly was 3/21. Ready for transport was 4/11, exactly we weeks to the day. Bravery Ace is due in to Veracruz on the 20th, but I imagine that is too soon for your M2 at the point its at on the wait

The cutoff point is prior to the car entering the production queue. So if the car is scheduled for lets say May 1st production start, you'd want to have your final spec submitted prior to that date.

I assume that also applies to port installed options as well correct? If I wanted the HAS kit, for example, would that also have to be entered before the start of production?

Nope. I was able to add the MP HAS to my build after production had started. I believe the cutoff for that is prior to the vehicle getting to the US port vehicle processing center.

Nice, thank you for the reply!

I already know what I want and would have everything in the system from the get go but would just stress to the sales guy to make sure those options are included in the build.

I had to push on my sales guy on getting the MP HAS kit added. He wasn't familiar with the process of adding port installed options so he initially was going down the path of having the service dept add the HAS kit once the car was at the dealership but they couldn't match the port-installed option price. After telling him about the advice from other forum members on port installed options he found someone there that showed him how to add it.

This is what worries me. Can you imagine the guy not knowing that the price at the dealership is greatly higher than the port installed price. That would be a very expensive mistake. Thankfully the guy I made my deposit with, from talking to him, has experience in port installed options thankfully.

My sales rep was incredible all along the way. It's just that he had never added a port installed option before to a build. All in all I felt good about the whole thing. Got my allocation on Nov 29th, 2023 and I picked the car up on Jan 22nd, 2024. 54 days was way quicker than expected and especially with the holidays in there and the added time for the MP HAS install.

This site shows what ships are going to the port of Veracruz.

https://www.vesselfinder.com/ports/MXVER001

4 ships that transport vehicles will be at the port by 4/23. I haven't been able to figure out where the ships next destination is.

You're in Florida so it should be port of Brunswick in Georgia. You can cross reference the Veracruz port ships with the inbound schedule into Brunswick. Some RORO ships coming into Veracruz are not headed up the Eastern coast of the US and should be ignored.

https://gaports.com/facilities/port-...ook-brunswick/

If you have the internal document from BMW with your production number with your build, it should say what Port of Entry your car is using.

Yes, this website I’m aware of. How long do vessels normally take from Veracruz to Brunswick?

Here's a published schedule from Grimalda (all of the Grande) ships

https://www.gnet.grimaldi-eservice.c...s/sched_nw.htm

Anywhere from 10-15 days. Depends on how many stops it makes. Alt

You also successfully brought back a twitch from the post you wrote up about Mu and rotational inertia.

I had thought that part of my life was behind me...

This wait already sucks and ‘25 specs haven’t even been announced. This is going to be brutal.
