Need advice - option to purchase 335i
Currently I lease a 2011 323i. My lease is up feb 2015. I am over my allowed 80k by 20k (dont ask how lol) Buyout is $23894 taxes in. Payments are $490/month taxes in. I will probably drive another 15k during the end of the term. Don't really want to keep the car bc Im bored of it. I have the opportunity to get out of my lease and jump into a 2011 335xi with 70k for $36k certified pre-owned from the dealer. Catch is, they will take the remaining payments and tack it on to the new car - approx $52k at the end of it. (remaining payments + excess km charge of .15.km)
Deposit they are asking is $4000 down, $630/month and $12000 at the end of the 60months. (balloon payment) My car still needs new brakes, would like to get new rims/tires and add a Nav system in it. The 335xi has a M body kit on it with 19" black BMW rims, and Nav system. Warranty till 2016. Question is, is it worth paying that much or should I just stick with the car I have? Or do I wait till end of lease and see if they can work something else out for me? Thanks for the help. Last edited by vkalsi; 04-21-2014 at 08:27 PM.. Reason: error |

You're gonna be paying interest on top of your remaining payments. It'll be like paying interest on interest. I'll probably wait till lease is over. Sometimes they eat the last 6 months of payments if you get another car from them.

Not a great idea IMHO. I would hang on until the lease is up and then either hand it back, or buyout and sell privately/trade depending on how much the car is worth on the open market vs. the residual (minus your excess mileage charge).
You will be in a much better negotiating position for your next car, and there will still be some E90 335s coming off lease available as CPO early next year if that's what you want. If you're stretching your budget I would be careful buying CPO on terms like that (60-month loan with balloon amount due at end). CPO warranty is 6 yrs from in service date, so you will be making payments for ~3 yrs on an out-of-warranty 335... each to his own but I would never put myself in a position where I am making payments on an out of warranty car, especially an N54/N55. |

Definitely not a good deal. I would wait until you're closer to the end of your lease.

Definitely sounds like everyone shares the same opinion. So I will hold off on it and try to drive the car less so I dont get dinged even more.
Thanks everyone. |
