G87 Delivery Inspection Thread

Figured I'd start a new thread of things worth taking a look for/at when taking delivery of a G87. Here's a copied list from KevM2 to start things off

1. Shipping blocks (blue)
2. Rear caliper M badge clips
3. Front fender alignment with headlight and hood (front corner)
4. Secure tow hook cap
5. Secure rear diffuser
6. “M2” logo on both seats (one car apparently had one M4 badge lol)
7. Plastic guard present right on top of front radiators? (May not be there for some, especially if automatic transmission but this is just a theory)

What is the #2 M badge clip we are talking about? Is it some clip exclusive to M cars that secure the brake pads/anti-rattle purposes?
A photo would definitely help if anyone cares to take one!

Questions on the shipping blocks.

Do they put those with the M Performance HAS suspension installed?

And, are they easily visible without taking the wheels off to look?

Check the air in the tires. Once got an X3 with 52 lbs of air in the tires.

I would love to see images of #3 as well. I think my headlight is misaligned.

My CA told me that the back breaks don’t come with the M clips. I couldn’t find the diagram showing it so I am clipless. The dealership is 2 hours away so didn’t seem worth the hassle.

I started a thread on this after taking delivery on my G87 a few months back. This appears to be a common issue. Your CA is wrong, no two ways about it. The rear brake caliper clip should definitely be included - regardless of whether you have red or blue calipers, the clip is black. It does not require the wheel to be removed and can easily be installed through the opening between the spokes. Simply reach in and it clicks into place. I cannot tell you why they have been randomly missing on many of our M2’s, but I can confirm that it’s the same clip on any recent model BMW with M Performance brakes - even on M Sport or M Performance models. I have a 22 G80 M3 and a 24 G05 X5 - both with the same part on the rear caliper. My dealer provided a set - mine were missing at delivery. I simply reached in and put them in myself. Your dealer should be able to send you a set to save you the trouble of driving 2 hours. Trust me, no matter what they tell you - they belong on the car and you can put them on yourself without removing the wheels.

Here is the BMW part number, you’ll need two as they’re individual, but the same on both sides:

FYI - you can read the thread if interested:

The missing clips seem to be a problem on multiple models from different factories. Not sure if BMW had a parts shortage and just didn't fit them for a time, or whether the brake caliper supplier didn't have the parts or just didn't fit them.
