There's a gizmo on the front end that steers our headlights!

Or so the mechanic at BMW Excluservice in Rockville, Maryland informed me after I ran over half a tuck tire Sunday night on the 495/Beltway, thus explaining why both headlights were resolutely pointing down toward the road ten feet in front of the car. The Bentley manual describes a complex system that takes input from the steering wheel angle, yaw sensors, etc. The good news is, one hours of labor later I was on my way. Can't say enough nice things about the Excluservice guys, in addition to opening the garage on weekends for the BMW CCA chapter. Tim and Isaac really hooked me up. Again.

Its actually a fairley simple set of parts. Turn your front wheels full lock to left side look inside drivers fromt tire and youll see a small 2" square box with an arm attached to the steering rod with wires running back into the engine compartment. Pretty neat set up though and easy to work on.

Adaptive Headlights. You should see them in action at night when making turns. If not, then either you don't have them or they are broken.
