2007 E92 320i cranks but won’t start
Hi guys, looking for some help with an e92 320i manual that i recently purchased as a bit of a project
I bought it as a non runner, it cranks but will not start, i have checked for fuel up to the injectors and fuel is present I also tried checking for spark but no spark present I have a basic c310 code reader and have loads of errors on a fair few different modules and all sorts of lights on the dash, abs, tc, bulbs, service due, airbags and so on One thing i have noticed is that my scanner will not connect to ecm module Battery is low at 11.6 volts so is on charge Not really sure what to try next so thought i’d see what you guys recommend Any help greatly appreciated |

Thanks for the reply, some codes i can clear but then come straight back, some codes won’t clear at all
I got no service history and all i know is that the previous took it to work fine but when he finished work it would just crank and not fire up As for the ecm i have tried dozens of times and just will not connect, tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours as maybe thought it would reset everything but made no difference unfortunately i’m a bit old school when it comes to cars so anything to technological i struggle a bit |

Another small update, after having the battery on charge for nearly 2 days it still only showing 11.6 volts so am sure the battery is dead
I have now borrowed a decent battery from a friend and still no change I have also connected my scanner to my 335i which i use daily and it connected to its ECM almost instantly Now i’m convinced that it’s the ECM causing all the problems, i’ve checked and checked fuses in the glove box as best i can but someone has been there before What could be causing the ECM to not “wake up” or not appear on the scanner? Any help greatly appreciated Thanks in advance Last edited by Goreden; 12-25-2023 at 09:47 AM.. |

So after figuring out the ECM is the problem i decided to pull it out of the car and cracked it to open to find that water has got into it and blown out resistors and all sorts of water damage, further in the casing is still wet, so i think i’ve found the problem
Question i have now is what can i do about, can i replace this ECM and have it programmed to the car or is the car only fit for parts now? Any help greatly appreciated Thanks in advance |

water in the ECU happends sometimes, have seen it on the forums before. shitty situation.
i’m quite sure you can replace the ECU and code it to the car but i don’t have any experience with that. won’t come cheap because if i remember well the CAS + keys need to be changed too. good luck! |
