Thoughts on oil pan baffles for N54?

There are mixed messages out there with regards to oil pan baffles on N54 track use cars and I'd just like to hear if anyone has some personal experience with it. Last year I took my E90 335i 6MT to 2 Track days at Mt. Tremblant, they went as well as they could for an aged N54 with preventive maintenance, ran into coolant temp/oil temp limp modes which was expected. This year I plan on doing more to the car (new turbos, oil cooler retrofit, general maintenance) and I also intend on going a few more times, 5 events annually. With that all being said, when would an oil pan baffle become a serious consideration if at all? This is just my daily track car, no real intention of taking it anymore than 5-8 track events a year. for light track use you probably be ok but if under the right circumstances the inconsistent oiling will cause premature wear or be fatal. in the meantime I run lots of moly and freq oil changes and adjust my driving style. biggest issue i seen is the scary oil drop during very hard/panic braking. the vac baffle may buy a half sec at best but theres no real n54 solution beside a custom pan and scavenging pump

Wow I wasn't aware of the hard braking issue. I'm working on adding an oil pressure sensor into the system so I can at least monitor my oil pressure at the track to give it it's best chance! Thanks for the info!

i run an aem guage with an adapter. aem is kinda junk but best digital option i found, thread were poorly tapped and the harness is way too short.

Oh sweet, I'm actually using a custom arduino based screen to display coolant and oil temperature for now, and then once I add an oil pressure sensor I'll have that too on my screen! What's the normal range for oil pressure in your experience?

spec at idle iirc is 22/23 psi but myself and what i seen on the web anything above 20/21 is ok and will drop to high teens at idle when car is super hot. driving hard usual low 60's but can dip to high 50s and hard long braking can cause drop below idle psi

Thank you! I'll be sure to keep an eye on those numbers to see how it reflects on the track. There's really only one hard hard braking zone from my experience going from 200km/h down to 130km/h or 120mph down to 80mph for a turn so I don't think it would be too brutal on the car. That being said I'll be able to log it on track and see what I get!

i didnt, no need the aem has adjustable warning. the extra work and cost make no sense to hook the switch back up, youre looking at combing 2 or 3 type fitting (npt ,an,mm) to plum and mount also

Baffle is nice, but most n54/n55 guys will run an accusump. I've seen a few posts of some guys swapping to dual oil pickups from an s55.
