Cross Shop m240i with F87 M2C?

Did anyone here cross Shop their M240i with the F87 M2C?

I find myself in this position right now.

I had a manual M2C before but now considering either a DCT M2C or a Zf8 M240i as my "daily".

the way I see it

M2C>M240i in looks, motorsport feel and engine, handling
M240i>M2C in ride quality, all weather capability, newer with longer warranty

so basically the enthusiast in me is saying go M2C whereas the practical me is shouting M240i

anyone else face this and why did you choose M240I in the end?

Similar situation although I ended up with M240i for lease reasons. My thoughts though were..

M2C - Definitely wins on looks! It's a full fat M with all that goes along with that.

M240i - B58 with x-drive = faster (especially launch, not necessarily track). New, so latest tech and warranty.

There were other reasons but those are the ones that stood out to me.

It wasn’t worth it for me to daily the M2C, it’s a waste because I commute 45 miles a day and sometimes long trips on weekend. I don’t feel as bad putting miles on m240. M240i still fun but probably not as fun as the m2c. And higher mileage m2c will be more maintenance and no warranty compared to a new m240. That was my thought process.

I originally wanted the F87 but ended up going with a new M240 once I saw the redesign..IMO the prior gen looks a bit feminine (as do the F87 kidneys), though I like the smaller size of the car.

My car need/criteria:
Daily driver
I don’t go to the track
I prefer decent fuel economy
Prefer AWD
Reliability is key
Had to be fast/performance trim
Wanted tech
Wanted Brooklyn gray/nardo color

With the above list of things that mattered to me, the only thing that wins for the M2c is the fact that there’s only one number after the M. To some, that is the most important thing in their BMW buying decision.

I am 100% happy with the M240, and would buy the exact same spec all over again.

I had a M2c for a few years and did 40k miles with it.

Had my m240i x drive from new and it now has 20k miles on the clock.

Loved my m2c, but the g42 is the better daily.

Different cars with different price tags in the UK. If I was looking at a M2, I’d also be looking at a Porsche not an M240i

I’ve driven M cars but couldn’t have one as a daily. Too harsh a ride for our roads, too expensive to maintain- for what they are.

It was a one horse race for me.

in Canada the price delta is not that great
a 21 M2C with low km is about 10K CDN more than s 22 M240i with low km
arguably the M2C will actually cost less since it will depreciate lower but does have higher maintenance costs

so financially it's a wash in my view

I didn't find my M2C too harsh, the m240i does ride better in comfort though, plus awd capability

hence the debtate...

Definitely cross shopped these (and even the OG M2 LCI 2018).

Overall the G42 is a much better modern daily driver.

If you're an enthusiast that's tracking (and need a 6MT), the M2 is the way to go. Otherwise, the G42 likely makes more sense (and if you want AWD it's your only option).

Looks wise I think the new M240i is more masculine and modern to me. The old M240i looks too basic and feminine to me, while the M2 adds fender flares and a better front, it still doesn't stick out in a crowd to all but enthusiasts.

Finally in terms of MPG, the B58 is 'miles' ahead of the full M models (especially on the highway in eco if you're going on long trips).
