Just went 12.1@119mph, 11's here we come

Spur of the moment run up to the drag strip tonight, running FBO (stock exhaust & turbos) E85 flash, E50 mix with unleaded. Ran an 12.1@119mph (UPDATE 11.9 sec 1/4) and somehow i went from 2-4th (auto in manual mod, i must have got a bit excited!) lol. I also got switched back to map4 about 50-75 metres before the line (will have to log my next run to see what's going on there). Anyways, times are getting better
11.9@118MPH!

You need a custom tune mate. None of this troubleshooting map4 fail safes, just point and shoot with an e60 custom tune.

12.1 is a good time though! Good work!

Just ran an 11.9 @ 118mph, didn't hit fail safe that run! Woohoo. And air temps are dropping here now so it could go a little quicker. Yes I know Scotty, I'll be doing that in the near future! I feel it should run mid 11's with the right tune & 17" MT Slicks. I'm just running 19" RFT (gay)

Congratulations mate, that is awesome breaking into the 11s, that a bloody quick street car.

I also have same mods to you but still running 98 octane. Am looking to upgrade my LPFP then run e30-40 blend. I'm running a COBB pro tune at the moment.

Calder Park drags will open up here again in Melbourne from Sep, so looking to track my car then

Did you record your run on an in dash cam or anything

Anyways awesome job

Cheers guys. No i didnt record it, but i logged my 1/4 mile run. On the 11.9 second pass for some reason the car shifted from 2 to 3 gear by itself at only 4000rpm in Manual mode (auto), the revs then dropped down to 2700rpm by the time it shifted into 3rd. I was really pissed off because in manual mode this should NOT happen, so somethings going on there. I fitted the BMS kickdown blocker for that run so i wonder if this has somehow affected the throttle parameters?? The car felt slow shifting from 2nd into 3rd at such a low rpm, my feeling would be an 11.7 sec if this did not happen.
Hopefully oneday ill get all the bugs ironed out and cut a neat 11.5 sec without meth, or Rb's, full street trim.

Yes thats next on my list but can only go 17's apparently. Im having trouble finding the right MT drag tyre for a 17'' at the right width & height. It should shed a few kg's compared to my 19's... LIGHT WEIGHT BABY!

Hopefully lol.. Someone should make a sticky, 1/4 mile times thread!! Would be really good to compare with other Aussie cars & not just go off the U.S forums all the time

Apparently 16's can be done, the calipers do need a lil massaging with a grinder!

But yeah finding the right widths rim to fit a decent size slick will be tricky...

very good times. You and I got the same mods! I'm going to go drags next wednesday after I install my bov see if I can get sub 12s.

What was your 60 foot? What was your launching technique? Do you think manual mode will give better time than ds mode?

Are you running the upgraded fuel stage 2 LPFP and have you replaced your HPFP in your car (meaning have they failed in the past)

I am about to upgrade my LPFP but don't know how my HPFP will hold up when I start running e85 blend. From what I can see they perform fine right now

Tawteeqh, yes im running the stage 2 FuelIt pump, once you install the pump & your E85 backend flash just do some logs to see how your hpfp is holding up! My original hpfp was good for about an E50-55 mix so i installed a brand new hpfp, only to find that the brand new pump only likes an E50 mix as well! Every car is different and mine just doesnt like going over E50 in its current form, but there are guys on here with the same setup but there standard hpfp can handle E65 (but they might be calculating there E85 mix incorrectly??) When you log, your really dont want your hpfp numbers dipping below 9, it will crash around 5-7, so you want a little leeway just to be safe

Yeah 16's would be ideal but cant bring myself to grind the caliper on a 335i lol, if it was an older car yeah no problems

My 60ft times, 1.89, 1.84, 1.81. That was with a 1600-1800rpm stall up on the line. I think with a higher stall up of around 2500rpm and some MT slicks, a 1.6 60ft is easily achievable for an experienced driver. Let me know what you run down the 1/4 mate, i want to see someone run into the mid 11's before me lol

Thanks mate - agree I think I'll install the fuelit stage2 and see how the HPFP holds up. I was thinking of running e30 blend but maybe I'll go e40-50. It's just that COBB have an off the shelf e30 map so thats why I initially thought to do that. I think COBB has gone e30 because that map actually doesn't require the user to upgrade the stock LPFP. I will anyway be getting a protune done so I can almost run any blend up to maybe e50 with the fuelit

Anyways I'll be heading out to the strips in Sep, I'll post my times and tell you how I go.

Cheers
