Arrow M2 s58 vs. M3/m4 s58?

Anyone know the difference between the S58 in the M3/M4 and the M2? Is it just a tune to make less power in the M2 or something different mechanically?

The G80/2 have an S58O while the G87 has an S58T. There isn't much information on what the difference is between the two engine designations. That said, the S58 in the M2 is detuned to have 453hp which is only 20hp less than the base M3/4 which have 473hp. Torque however is identical for the G87 and G80/2 base models @ 406 ft-lb.

Check out this video when the BMW M2 Project Manager is asked specifically about the S58T vs the S58O engines.

In theory, but 6-speed transmission supposedly can only handle up to 406 lb-ft torque max so you will be running the risk of damaging your gearbox...

This is the same transmission in the f8x and g8x? They can usually handle much more than that if so..

Probably just additional wear on the clutch.

A G80 tune would still only have 406 lb-ft
