Anyone running a Cobb tune at altitude?
Hi guys, just curious about stage I sport vs agressive tunes with a cobb access port. Wondering how it works at Denver Altitude and if 91 octane pump gas is good enough for the aggresssive tune?
Thanks!!!

Saw some dude in the DTC with a red E90 that had a Cobb sticker in his rear window. Dunno if he's on here though.

In my opinion 91 octane is not sufficient for the Aggressive tune. But I'm pickier than Cobb, I like almost no knock events ever. They tune for some, some of the time. With Aggressive on 91 if you datalog you'll probably see a lot of minor knock events. But of course the ECU handles them reasonably well, so it's up to you how much you want to "ride" the knock sensor. But there is a point of diminishing returns where more timing is being pulled than would have needed to have been with a more conservative tune.

I probably wouldn't run Cobb on Aggressive on the 91 octane, but you should be fine on any other map. I usually daily mine on Drive, and then switch to sport sometimes for fun.

Thank so much for the replies!!! Great info.
I am definitely concerned about "minor knock events" and don't want to go there... The sport map is similar to the PPK isn't it?

I think the PPK is below even Stage 1 on Cobb, or maybe similar to Stage 1 drive. PPK is very conservative, basically making the 335i a 335is.

I run drive on 91 at 6,500ft ASL. During the summer I'll run a few gallons of E85 with the sport map for fun. I logged the aggressive map one time and was not happy with the results.
IMHO, the drive map alone makes it a completely different car. -Rich |

Excellent. Drive or Sport maps only. Thanks! I am likely picking up a car that has PPK already and was curious about adding the Cobb.

From what I understand do not run aggressive with 91 Octane. I run Stage 1 sport and it makes a huge difference over stock. Going to get an intercooler and go Stage 1+ FMIC soon though.

I need an FMIC now. Pulled a log on Stg 0 for my OFT yesterday and my IAT's are pretty damn high. Its screwing with my timing and boost.

Alpine, did you order the 5" or 7" FMIC? And are you planning on doing the install yourself? Curious because I'm contemplating picking one up in the near future.

I'll order one in about a month or sooner probably. I want to go with the 7" even if it requires a bit of custom work. Can't beat VRSF for the money. I'll do the install myself since it's really not that big of a deal to get in there.

7" is still a fairly easy install, just get a dremel, and a couple of these bits.
Will make quick work of it. |

Here ya go
I pulled logs on the Stage 2 OTS map today and sent them to Wedge for eval. So far he's only asked how it feels, meanwhile everyone in my thread in the N54 tuning section is freaking out over how crazy the numbers look for a DCI only car.
