I having been reading over at autogeek.net on polishes and am having a hell of a time figuring out what product to get to do paint correction on my 2006 Jet Black 325i. A lot of people are recommending Meguiar's #105 for correction then final with #205, seal, and wax. Here is what I am considering:

MG#105/orange pad
MG#205/white pad
Collinte #845/Red pad

Thoughts?

For Finishing down, lots of Jet Black guys use Menzerna PO85RD. I haven't tried it yet but intend to in the next few weeks.

Are you familiar with 105 and Kevin Brown Method?
It has a little learning curve so if you are not familiar with it I'd go with a different combo.
Menzerna SIP on orange with Menzerna PO85RD on black should finish down beautifully.

I am starting to lean toward the Wolfgang brand at Autogeek. Looks to be easy to use and made by Mezerna.

Jet black really likes ultrafina IME. I've tried to use 85rd but its touchy as 85rd is really a nano clear polish and jet black is not that hard.

You can use Megs 300 for a compound its less agressive than 105 but not by too much and JB like it. You can follow that up with MEG 205 and then Ultrafina.

It all really depends on how much correction you need to do, do you you have any photos?

JB is soft enough that if you wipe too hard with a MF you can put fine marring into the paint....... JB is a part time job to keep looking good

As you can probably tell from the posts above there is no one right combo. The answer depends on so many factors like your goals, time available, experience with a buffer, condition of the paint, etc. etc. The Meguiar's Ultra-Cut Compound M105 and Meguiar's Ultra Finishing Polish M205 is a solid combo that works very well on any finish. If you are concerned about left over haze in the JB paint and have the time for a three step process the Meguiar's Ultra-Cut Compound M105 with an orange pad, Menzerna Super Finish Polish SF 4000 (PO106FA Nano Polish) with a white pad and lastly the Menzerna Micro Polish SF 4500 (PO85RD) with a blue pad. I have little experience with a Da polisher. The Griot's is the first one I have owned so ease of product use would be good I think. As for time, I would say that is a none factor. I will spend as much time as needed. My major goal is to remove as many imperfections as I can. Currently the finish has light to moderate imperfections I would say.

those 7 items will give you a ton of correction levels...just mix and match to get what works for your technique and desires.

Personally, almost every JB BMW I do, which is a lot, gets either D300 or megs 105 on mf disc or surbuf, powerfinish on hydro tang, 85rd on black
