True coil over conversion

I was looking for coil overs for my e93 and I came across a true coil over where the shock and spring are all in 1 and was wondering if there any modifications needed to be done to the vehicle or if there is a ride quality difference

I can't imagine the stock lower shock mounts enjoying that very much - they always seemed weak to me. Why would you want that over the divorced setup in the rear? Also need to make sure you're aware of the different leverage rates in the rear between the stock spring position and the shock position.

Because I wanted to know if there was a benefit to it over the regular style coil over

A true coilover rear basically allows you to make the rear suspension much stiffer than you could with the stock divorced setup. The downside is that the rear shock towers have to be massively reinforced, or something will eventually break (as in, hitting bumps could total your car from unibody damage). So, if you're not looking to go a ton stiffer than stock in the rear AND have the rear shock mounts reinforced, it's not for you. No upside, big potential downsides.

LMK if you wanted a more technical explanation.

Same is true of any kit in this price tier, honestly. But that's another rant...

Very helpful and insightful. Explains why many (but not all) of the top brands stay with a two-piece rear setup (Ohlins for example).

I’ve been on a married setup for 2 years, daily drive 120 miles, 5 days a week in my 335d and no issues or deformation.
