E90 320d hydraulic steering fluid level sensor
Friends
Does anyone know if the E90 320d comes with a level sensor for the Hydraulic power steering fluid. Mine got drained out completely on the run but the car did not give out any warning signs. I would wonder why a car with complex sensors does not have a simple level sensor for the power steering fluid. The car does have sensors for brake fluid as well as wiper wash fluid. So the power steering fluid sensor missing seems strange? Anyone has experienced this? regards |

The brake fluid level is a critical component for safety. The washer fluid in the E90 is contained in a tank hidden in right front fender, so the fluid level cannot be ascertained visually. The power steering system makes noises and gets harder to steer corresponding to a loss of fluid volume. The cap has a dipstick.
It sounds like your PS system fluid loss was immediate, which is a very rare occurrence. So rare that a senor would just be redundant to tell you the system was empty of fluid. |
