My dealer got our first '23 M3 so I figured I'd share as to what the prospective G87 owner will be seeing come next year.

As some may know, there are two views, road and sport. First will show the "sport" view, second picture will show the default "road" view.

Overall I think it looks good. There's also a cool intro graphic upon entrance as well as a good looking transition between the two views.

My biggest gripe with ID8 on the series cars is the lack of a shift knob, so in the M-cars it looks good to me

Disappointing. No reason there shouldn't be an option for round gauges, especially in an M model. And they retained the maps In the middle, which I'm still yet to ever look at in our X5 almost 3 years into ownership.

Did the M3 LCI keep the current M Key design or did it receive the new updated key that the X7 LCI has?Just wondering which key design the G87 will have.

Steering wheel is in desperate need of an update also. Something similar to new 7 series would be nice

Just watched this to see how "customizable" the instrument cluster is. No round gauges, all of the layouts are wack.

What a fuggin' joke.

That's the M-Sport car cluster. See the post above. But yes no round gauges.

Yeah, glossed through the one you posted, or should say FFW through it and didn't see him changing the layout.

P.S. Not having round gauges is stupid AF. What's next, square wheels? GTFOH BMW

I really like how they incorporated the M color scheme in both screens. It looks really good.I agree with Tag that it would have been nice to have the option for round gauges.I wonder if these screens will be easier for BMW to update compared to idrive 7 in the future to allow for a different screen layout like the ability to select round gauges.Maybe the technology in these screens will make it easier for BMW to do that in future software updates.

Is there a huge screen layout for Apple CarPlay?I didn’t see it in your video.

Yeah the entire right side would be Apple CarPlay. It's massive but hasn't changed. Still looks good.

Damn idrive 8 is such a step backwards from 7. This looks more like the crappy Merc system. Idrive 7 had the perfect mix of hard buttons and software.

And I also hate the seat toggles being on the door, again like Merc. Ugly buttons you press one time then program into memory and forget they exist. Why do they need to be up next to the door handle you use everyday. Makes absolutely no sense. BMW shouldn't pander to idiot Merc drivers who need seat buttons under their nose.

And the drive select button is meh, even worse then the nubbin in my 992 911.

But by far the most offensive change is the lazy design of just sticking a big ugly looking ipad on the dash. Even worse then Mercs poor attempt at the same thing. Idrive 7 integrate the screens in nice sporty bezels and a cluster gauge that reduces glare while having a classic gauge look. This is hideous, lazy, looks like cost savings gone wrong.

Massive step backwards BMW! Shame!

From a software and interface standpoint, iDrive 8 >>> iDrive 7

But I get why people are concerned about losing more physical buttons.

Either way, the biggest problem with iD8 isn't the gauges or the elimination of buttons. It's that horrendous kickstand at the back.

Welcome back to the 80s..Reminds me of GM products form that era. I am ok with digital screen, but they should at least give us an option to choose two round speedometer, RPM and MPH, that all BMW, that all we need. lol.

I wonder what will it take for BMW to fire Dukec? First the monster grille on g80/g82, now this. I have no choice but to get 718 next.

I still remember the days you could option a M3 with no navigation screen at all.

Well sure. Considering you could buy an M3 before GPS became fully operational in the world
