I've decided to make a video as to have a visual guide for people looking to tune their 325i/328i N52 to utilize the 3 stage intake manifold and updated tuning settings of the 330i with the Bimmerlabs website and 330i tune.

I have talked to quite a few guys with N52s that wanted to do the swap but didn't know how to tune the car and the price of a tune like Stage FP, AA, etc seemed high so this should help.

This should be a fairly comprehensive video guide of exactly how I did it aswell as a few troubleshooting steps for issues I had when getting the computer to recognize the cable and flashing process.

I've linked all the websites in the description of the video but thought I'd do it here aswell.

Nice.

BTW, errors are almost always a cable or setup issue. And it's basically literally impossible to brick your DME in WinKFP, especially with a batch flash.

It seems pretty safe after I already did it. Literally all my issues were indeed cable setup related. Might flash the mafless tune soon.

Glad someone finally did a full video. Too bad you're wipers didnt go ape-shit like mine. I think it is good to show that and the dash going nuts so people dont get freaked out as its happening (and potentially knee-jerk remove the plug).

I've never seen that. I turn everything off though to save the battery.

I was eager for the wipers to go off to add to the excitement, I mentioned it could happen so at least there's that. Most of the noises and such I got were the warning blings and the fuel pump priming.

Yes, the car will definitely pull harder all throughout the rev range. I attribute half the power gain to the tune and half to the manifold at least on a stock car like mine.

Good luck. Make sure to have driven the car before doing it or that your battery is in good health as the RSA delete can be a bit lengthy depending on your pc.

I have a 30 amp charger that I've used to upgrade all the modules in my car, I think I'll be fine

Many thanks to E92William for making this video!

A couple of questions -

I already have the Bimmergeeks Std Tools on my PC so the 3 folders mentioned around 1:38 were deleted when installed. Do I need to uninstall Std Tools and start over, skipping the delete of the 3 folders?

Is a battery charger/maintainer like CTEK or Battery Tender attached enough for doing this flash?

Just trying to make it a bit easier to have everyone make good power on n52s

I personally deleted all my standard tools and installed again without deleting the 3 folders. Not going to be taking any chances plus I wasn't in a rush.

I didn't use a charger at all for any of the flashing process. I think if your battery is good and you recently drove the car it will hold up just fine but if you want get it, I have a CTEK laying around too. Just flashed the MAFless tune a few minutes ago with no charger and it started up fine.

After driving the car with the mafless tune, I think I should have done it from the start. Car is more responsive, more peppy and the gas pedal input feels more inline with engine response than stock or 330i tune. Only downside is the cruise control not working. Car is on stock maf sensor.

Another thing I quite liked is that, on cold starts the mafless tune starts up like a normal 328i would. The 330i tune tends to rev the engine to almost 2k upon cold start up. Maybe it was only for my car but It particularly bothered me specially on a dead cold engine.

For example in this video upon start, instead of revving to 1300 at first it'd do 1800.

I need to fix the CC on that file. Whatever car it came with, didn't have that option, and I just haven't had time to deal with it.

Wait? Can you do the mafless tune without sourcing the Euro IAT? I have a 330i already but my maf wiring seems to be wack and my car runs better without a maf. So I was considering flashing the bimmerlabs 330i nomaf tune but was waiting on an email back to figure out what exactly the tune does

Yes you can. I (among many predecessors) been on MAFless tune for quite some time.

Oh damn, I might have to flash my car tonight when I get home. I feel like I would benefit a lot from it. Thanks for the info

The maf has an iat in it too. Maybe your car has a bad maf but the iat part is fine. Obviously the idea behind the mafless tune is to get rid of the bulky stock MAF and put in the tiny IAT. But it works well with the stock part too. You should flash it and see how it does.
