Porsche 997 C2S - GT3 Conversion!!!
Finally got my car back and wanted to share the results with you guys n gals. Took them 3 days and they had a few issues sorting the exhaust out but i am extremely happy with the results. I'd already fitted GT3 alloys/tyres, Carbon Fibre mirror covers, light smoke tinted windows, silvertec clear bulbs all round etc. Car was lowered at factory with Porsche -20mm suspension plus the PASM and Sports Chrono. This phase was the front GT3 bumpers with lower lip spoiler and Carbon Fibre bonnet vent, rear GT3 bumper including vents aand then a hand made centre exit exhaust with light weight titanium silencers and twin 100mm polished tips. Let me know your thoughts.

Thought this should be off-topic Steve! But it does look ace! Very nice - needs some kind of rear spoiler tho' to finish the aggressive look off - the little pop up one can't do it justice?!

Forgot to post in off-topic - im sure the powers that be will move it if necessary - as for rear spoiler, im not into them and think they are too OTT for my liking so will be leaving it as is - appreciate your comments though Red.

What about something a bit more subtle like this tech-art one...

Top results. Front is the business and the rear bumper/exhaust. I have to agree the rear needs a spoiler to balance the looks as well as aerodynamics. You will now have more downforce at the front than the rear. As for the haters who will say you are making look GT3 when its not, f**k 'em. Porsche has always offered factory enhancements on the 911 from Turbo rear spoiler, full turbo kits and aero kits. I have no problem with it looking full GT3 as long as the badge doesn't go on.

Thanks Ed. Totally agree carrerarsr and trust me i would never badge it as GT3. Have to say Red, i hadnt seen that Techart spoiler and i quite like that to be honest - would definitely consider something more subtle like that. Will have a look around. The comments on the downforce is something i hadnt given much thought to - but at speed it may become and issue not having a rear spoiler. Mmmm?

GT3's look great and don't worry about the fact it isn't one.
Have to say though it really needs the pukka GT3 (stock, not RS) wing to complete the look - in my opinion. I've read before that you shouldn't put just the front or back spoiler from the 996 GT2 onto a stock 996 Turbo - as it will affect the downforce balance unless you fit both or neither. These maybe exaggerated old wives tales - don't know, but could well apply here. I suspect that as the stock car has a lift up spoiler anyway, you probably wouldn't notice any significant issues (e.g. like the original Audi TT woes) until well north of 100mph, but it will make some difference and could be a real issue at 150mph+. |

I like the look and agree the full GT3 spoiler may look over the top. You should have a fair bit of downforce when the stock spolier comes up on the car so I don't think I would worry unless the car feels unsettled when driving.
If you take some more pics manually raise the rear spoiler and this will show what it will look like on the move. You keep you red brake pads really clean. Do you jet wash them or have they just stayed nice and clean since you changed the alloys?

Great upgrades mate, really tasteful! Does the exhaust sound a lot louder now?

Gibbo - assume you mean the red calipers?? They were immaculately clean and shiny red when i bought car and i always make sure i clean them properly everytime i wash the rims etc. Also much easier to get to and keep clean with the GT3 rims on.
Roofer - thanks buddy - and dont worry, my wife hates me too!! TSL - exhaust is louder than stock but not blatant - its a touch deeper on tickover and then about 30% louder under acceleration. If im honest i wanted it louder as i like noise but on reflection its probably about perfect as it stays in keeping with the car and doesnt sound like some chav boy racer peco big bore shite!! There is also ZERO in car drone or boom. When i drove off yesterday from the garage the guys said they could hear me open her up quite some way away so its obviously louder outside than in.

Same with E92 M3, much louder on the outside than the sound you hear in the cabin
