Belt Recommendation
Hey...I know this isn't about a watch but I figured you would be the guys to ask.
Looking for a quality black belt that will last me a long time. I am okay with paying around $100 but I need something that will last and wont, peel, frey, etc The past few belts I have bought (2 from department stores, 1 from a suit store) have peeled since its not real leather? The nylon below gets exposed looking VERY UGLY. I am so done with these pos belts, need to put up the cash and get a nice one. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Nice, I will have to keep that in mind. Department store belts I feel are hit or miss and a lot seem to use laminate coatings of sorts

I have three belts from this place, bought a year ago. I love the adjustability and color options.

Thats right, this system doesn't stretch holes and destroy the leather in traditional belts. Like i said i've had mine for a year and they still look new. When i received the belts i cut them to the appropriate length. The leather and padding was reasonably thick and difficult to cut, if that says anything about quality. The social agenda of the company is an added bonus too.

I bought a few custom dress belts from these guys http://www.equusleather.co.uk/belts/...her-belts.html. Perfect fit once you measure your waist correctly.
I also have a few leather "gun" belts from these guys http://www.bullhidebelts.com/. The gun belts are nice because they are thicker than normal belts so they give more support to your pants. Helpful if you are a big guy. Also helpful if you like to carry a bunch of junk on your belt. They are designed to carry a 2LB firearm on your belt plus another 1 lb for extra ammo so a 4oz cellphone you just don't notice. |

It is versatile, doesn't bend/crease like a regular buckle/hole belt will where you regularly use it. I liked my first one so much, I have 3 now. Price is very reasonable - worth the try for at least one. I'd go with a understated "Alloy stainless" finish on a black or brown belt to start. For dress - go with the skinnier belt,(35mm). Jeans/etc.. I suggest the wider belt,(40mm). For my work belt - I used the "Iron" finish buckle. They also have non-leather belts - the outer portion is nylon, but I haven't bought any yet to see how the end holds up. That is my next purchase, just the nylon "strap" and I can move my buckle to the other belt. The best part of these belts - the small increment of adjust-ability - you end up with just the right amount of force on your waist, not too much or too little when you are right between two holes in your waist size. |

I don't wear bests much anymore but all my belts are Coach. Not inexpensive but guaranteed quality and very fair value considering and certainly not overpriced for what you get. I like Coach products, not the cutting edge in style (probably a good thing for most) but leather products are what they've built a well-deserved reputation on.

I think you should go into your local Coach store and look at them. Talk to the salesperson, voice your concerns. Certainly, if the belt just doesn't feel like it's worth it to you head for the door. My Coach items have held up and worn well, but then I'm generally careful with stuff like that. I like quality but I also don't overpay for that and like to think I have a handle on that equation. But, I do agree, $150 is a lot for a belt.
