George, Moto-Man does good, honest, and fair reviews.

Edit, no clue what they did with the video quality post recording, but it is terrible! Maybe attempting to improve ZB?

I love his reviews , his channel should have more audience but this production , was actually his first , that is recorded with a home security camera

I agree with T_U_D 's post that it's a good honest review. I noticed he didn't directly comment on the ZB color and he called the styling "unique" which is about as fair of a review that I've seen so far. I guess I han't noticed but he point out that the seat belts didn't have the M colors. That's a preproduction thing right?

Yeah, the darker light parts of the video look like they are in 256 colors instead of true color. It looks like it was very sunny out so probably something to do with how they adjusted the cameras aperture.

Agreed, the post production looks terribly blown out.

BMW is pretty inconsistent at times with the M-seatbelts at new Model launch. They are at times not available during early launch cars (my 2020 X3MC didn’t have them) or hidden as a check box item that dealers can miss when ordering.

U.S. spec G87s will get the M seat belts as standard equipment per the retail pricing guide. Note, they are optional in some other countries.

Edit, added attachment.

The comments about the poor video quality were concerning and I thought it can't be that bad. Oh yeah really bad, I have never seen such poor post processing in a video. Just one look at the sky in this video reveals totally artificial colors that I have never seen before.

Call me a cynic but this is how I picture BMW reaching out to the various YouTube channels.

BMW: Hey, we'd love to work with you to give you a sneak peak on the M2 to your fans!
Youtube Channel: Great! We'd love to work with you.
BMW: Here's a few talking points 1. Please call Vanvoort Blue beautiful. Talk it up! 2. Leave weight comments to a minimum 3. You can mention the rear but be gentile.... (bazillion other talking points)
Youtube Channel: <gump> Ummm.
BMW: We can always work with someone else...
Youtube Channel: Boy that Vanvoort Blue is striking! We'd love to work with you

So far all the vids have been positive on the color whereas many or most(?) of the average Joes who got to see it in SC still weren't quite convinced. That hasn't came through in any of the videos yet. This was the closest video as he avoided the topic entirely but it certainly appears there was heavy post production to make it look better (darker). Another one of the "leaked" pics also had heavy color correction where others mentioned various other things in the image not having the right tint.

It's not a review if they don't even drive the car.

Probably recorded in HDR on an iPhone and forgot to convert the color space.

I was thinking the same… this isn't a review? How is this any different to BMW's own promotional videos? It's just a promotional overview telling us what the car has (and only focusing on positive aspects). It's non-critical, non-technical, and doesn't inform me about anything I can't read about from BMW themselves.

Sorry to the guy earlier in the thread who stated motoman does unbiased and honest reviews…nah, this ain't that. I'll wait for the real reviews when the paid-for meals, expensed travel and 'BMW police' aren't in the equation 🙂.

Why can't they drive the cars? Is there a release date to the testing part? Talking without driving is boring 😜

Press drives are not occurring until 2023. There will be a press embargo and BMW will have a set date as to when it will expires. If I had to guess it will probably be a month or two prior to launch in April 2023. We will not see any driving reviews until the embargo expires.

Why?

"While the B58 uses a single twin-scroll turbocharger to pressurize the intake manifold and drive charge air, the S58 employs twin individual mono-scroll units"
