I can almost guarantee it was just butchered in post… Shooting outdoors with that much natural light is super easy! To my (amateur) photographer’s eye it looks like they went to town cranking up the saturation and messed with the white balance too much. If you do that and then increase the definition/structure too dramatically it creates the weird chunky colors you see in the video.

Can’t speak for Onesie but the reason it made me cringe is because the twin scroll turbo found in the B58 is, well… a twin scroll turbo. There are VGT’s (Variable Geometry Turbos) but those are typically only found in diesel applications, and there’s such a thing as a “Variable Twin Scroll” turbo but AFAIK that’s a newer concept from Borg Warner, and neither of the aforementioned designs are what the B58 uses.

Using the word “variable” implies the turbo changes something during its usage.

There is one type of variable turbo, and Porsche uses it. It’s called variable geometry, so it varies the size of the impeller depending on load and RPM, either to give better response, or more flow (low/top end).

There is turbo technology to vary a twinport to a single port depending on load and RPM as well. As far as I know this technology is not employed in any gas engine.

BMW uses a single port turbo for the S58 (and employs 2 of them), and a twinport turbo for the B58 (and employs 1 of them).

They have nothing variable about them. Saying a turbo is “variable scroll”, to me, sounds like variable geometry. I didn’t watch the video to see what else he doesn’t know but is saying out loud because no one cares.

Your link doesn’t talk about variability.

This. (Porsche uses VGT in some gas motors, I believe).

Why did he even leave this video up?
It's 2023 and a guy doing YouTube channel can't buy a decent camera? An iPhone with an eBay selfie stick would do better

Maybe a new/newish individual recording him? George has not had issues in the past.

Press drives are not occurring until 2023. There will be a press embargo and BMW will have a set date as to when it will expires. If I had to guess it will probably be a month or two prior to launch in April 2023. We will not see any driving reviews until the embargo expires.
I find that whole thing ridiculously stupid considering they let people drive the car with camouflage on. Joe Achilles already drove the car and has a video on it

So did Horatiu at BMW Blog as well as Tim, SMEE150. Those were two separate camouflaged, preproduction models driven last May in Austria. One automatic and one manual transmission.

FYI, this specific G87 was on static display along with the XM at a press event BMW was holding. The press have been driving the new 7 and i7.

Hard for me to legitimize a dude who on one hand fetishes over certain car color combos while on other struggles with basic kirkland Costco wardrobe color coordination.

His reviews are repetitive and boring. Wait for the m2 CS. It's gonna be bonkers.

Welcome to the internet sir. Around here boomer is less a demographic term and more of a derogatory term. (Sorry, not sorry, actual boomers)

I'm usually a Motoman fan, but this video really felt like it was scripted by BMW PR. Some of the same talking points hit on by TFLnow that sound more like marketing than honest impressions.

Exactly. What’s he expected to say with two BMW censors off camera? Reminded of a propaganda piece with terrible post production.
