Solid setup, how is the HAS treating you? Plans to move to a coilover kit?

Looks good.

What offset(s) are the wheels and what alignment are you running F&R ?

And how’s the rubbing with that square setup? That’s the exact setup I’d like to run.

I only have 10 miles on it since I installed the HAS so it's too soon to tell. I doubt that there will be a need to do coilovers though.

It's a square setup with 18mm backspacing. I haven't done the alignment yet but plan on doing -3 on the front and -2 on the rear (track specs)

zero rubbing. I have a ~5mm gap between the sidewall and the strut tower. I have seen no signs of rubbing on the liners but that could change as the suspension settles.
Also, I am not using any spacers. I bought a 5mm spacer just incase.

I have feeling first track day will change that opinion, HAS kit gotten pretty poor reviews from track usage.

Car looks GREAT Zion

I thought that I read somewhere that the KW HAS springs are the same spring rate as OE? If that is the case I would expect the feel to be the same. But with that said, I have 3 track days coming up in the next 2 weeks so I will hopefully have some opinions formed then.

There’s more to it than just the spring rate, dampers are made to work in a specific range of stroke.

Any lowering springs on a factory damper are going to move the range where the shock/strut sits, not only when static but also under compression.

The issue with the kw/bmw performance springs is that the combination puts the shock and struts out of that sweet spot, that combined with the adjustable perch means that you’re giving up available travel so you will end up riding on the bump stops during full compression which isn’t the goal.

I think you will find on a the street it will ride fine but the car will drive poorly on track under load/compression.

Taiga2002 recently tracked his with a similar setup and reported something along those lines iirc.

I found it interesting that the KW bumpstops were only ~ .5" taller than the OE. Assuming equal geometry and durometer I would suspect that would be the delta to compression. You are right though- it would be out of the sweet spot.
My previous track car was a S550 Mustang. In that world, coilovers were frowned on (Ohlins were the exception) but that was mostly because there were so many good aftermarket options for track systems using the MacPherson strut style.
I will report back after my track days. I might have a lightly used HAS system available for someone

Looking forward to your feedback!!!

I think we will be lucky with this platform, MCS, Moton/AST, Ohlins, etc will have stuff out soon, just hoping they actually offer dedicated kits not just g80/82 stuff.

We all know coilover has its benefits but I think if you’re not running it max low you can probably retain most of the plus sides of the oem dampers with your springs.

Yes, you are correct. The KW HAS kit (manufactured for G80/82) has a softer spring rate than the factory springs. This probably increases lateral grip, but you lose a bit of the responsiveness the front end has with the stock setup. I believe the G87 has a slightly stiffer front and/or slight softer rear rate than the M3 to reduce the twitchiness/snappy oversteer resulting from the shorter wheelbase. After installing the HAS I feel like the car tends to oversteer more while trail-braking and on turn-in, even with my wider rear tire (275 front/ 295 rear). I’m planning on Ohlin R&T coilovers and a 200TW 285/305 setup.

Of course how you setup your car varies on your driving style, but I prefer a car that has a slight safety under steer rather than unpredictable oversteer.
