Colorado Alpina TCU Update

Anyone in Colorado with the ability to do the Alpina TCU update? Mine is a late 2009 build so I'd need the paddle shifter tweak too.

TIA!

I think there was one guy in the springs that did it, can't remember his ID though.

Thanks man. I'd love to get it done if anyone can do it. Otherwise I may just have to buy a cable and come up-to-speed on my programming

I still haven't done it yet, but I believe BazookaJoe can do it:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=530341

He's done other coding on my car. Great guy and super helpful. Buy some cigars from him if he does it for you

I'm texting Joe right now lol

The software for the TCU flash is being stubborn right now. I'll wait it out.

Thanks!

Figured rather than create another topic, it would be best to resurrect an already established thread.

Anyone know if any of the local shops do this? I know ar design does not after contacting them.

I'm pretty sure Joe said he could do it. I'm going to see him today to do some coding, so I'll ask.

3zero3 did get back to me on this. Well, I'll let you guys figure this statement out...

"My BMW Technician worked at the factory in Bavaria, and is very familiar with the WinKFP platform. SO this is something that we can help you with... However there are always great risks in using this to reprogram any control module. The WinKFP platform does not have any safety devices built in, so there is always a chance that something in the file can cause an issue and basically "brick" or kill your control module, and its a risk you have to assume in this process....

But the feedback we have gotten on the TCU software upgrade is very positive."

Still not really sure if they don't know what they're doing and just assuming they can handle this or they've done it a few times in the past or what. The initial response I had from the guy that answered my message over facebook was pretty unclear because he didn't really have a clue what I was talking about. I shared the DIY info from the coding section with him, he ran it by some of the mechanics, and that's when he responded with the above statement.

I've since asked if they've done this in the past a few times so hopefully it will clear up the cryptic messages I keep getting.

So Joe said he's done it before in the past, but hasn't been able to make it work recently. He said he was going to pass on a name of a guy that has done it to see if he can help. I'll keep you posted though as I want to do it myself.

I'd consider just buying the cable yourself and getting the help of Wedge1967 or cn555ic. They can remote in and do the install themselves. They're arguably the two most knowledgeable people on the board regarding the TCU flash. And you'd likely pay the shop the same amount if not more than the price of the cable.

Here's the word from 3zero3:

The bottom line is they can do it and they have great faith in their technician's abilities, despite the fact that they actually have NEVER flashed this tune on to any E90/91/92/93 car before. They want $420 to "pull the TCU, flash it with WinFKP, reinstall and verify performance of the tune".

I'm going to look into getting the cable for this since I want to do some other coding functions. Appreciate you looking into this Thaar. Let me know how it pans out with the other guy.
