Custom tune on stock turbos worth it?

Hello, I have a 2008 e93 n54 6at with xhp. I’m fbo with dp dci fmic and cp on stock turbos. I run a jb4 backend flash on MHD with an E30 mix on 93. I have an upgraded lpfp coming in later this week from fuel it so I can hopefully run a good e40 e50 mix. Do you think with these specs it’s worth to get a custom tune? I’m looking to run the stock turbos until they blow then go with upgraded twins. Any advice/tips is greatly appreciated

I've never run an OTS ethanol tune but I can say that my car is 300% more fun on full e85 custom tune than it is on a 2+ tune. It requires more mods as not every car can do even e60 without supplemental fueling but I'd say it'll be worth it. Do inlets first if you are going to get a custom tune.

What secondary fueling are you running for full e85?

Fuel it stage 3 LPFP with a Hobbs switch and MMP port injection. Custom Wedge tune.

My car runs so much better on my Doc Vu custom tune vs the ots MHD tunes. Worth the money to have it done correctly for my car. I'm on stock turbo's with the usual upgrades. Pushing 23psi. It's pretty fun to drive. Eventually go to upgraded twins and retune. But I only have 70k in this car so turbo's are healthy for now.

please define ''much better''

- 1/4 miles
- 60-130 times
- mpg
- dyno

Really doubt on a stock car, even fbo, this will be night and days

Yep, agreed. Those MHD canned tunes are pretty much dialed in for stock turbo cars. I don't really see what a "custom tune" is going to do for you.

this is exactly my point. R&D with MHD is insane. In 2021, they issue a huge update for N54s, even for discontinued engine, they still developing.

however I can imagine they keep a little safety factor to fit most cars conditions without issues.
