Nice! Is it turbo'd or SC'd? I will come and look for ya there. What group are you running in?

Bone-stock M42-power... 137 sweet horses that are 17 years old. But good suspension, tires and brakes. Signed up for B. Haven't heard back about placement yet. Definitely stop by - would be good to put some faces with the handles.

Hey everyone, just FYI, if you have some time Saturday the 22nd, the RMCBMWCCA is in desperate need of some volunteers for corner work. I have done this before at HPR, and it was actually a pretty good time, especially if you work them with a buddy. I am driving though, so can't this time

Seconded
I wanted to mirror Racey's remarks - I worked corners for the first time at HPR last spring, and I learned as much about track-driving watching as I did on the track. It's a great experience, and you rack up serious car-ma points. Would recommend anyone interested in tracking to do this. I know that Alex is signed up, and hats off to him.
I'll go over to 318ti.org and post same thing now... |

I'm going to be all alone at those corners. I'll have to layer sun screen on.
I'm considering doing the open lapping day at the track the day before - Friday.

That's a great idea - May have to see how work is going that week, and maybe do the same... Season's closing down.
Thanks for corner-working Alex. I think you'll enjoy it as well. |

So I need new pads and rotors, here are my thoughts
Front: Z4is Rotors, Ferodo DS2500 pads Rear: Zimmerman Z-coat rotors & Stoptech Performance pads Stoptech SS brake lines at all 4 corners This sound like a decent setup for street and occasional track, or should I step up to a slotted/drilled rear or front rotor instead? |

^ Sounds like a good setup to me. Are the rear pads a bit softer? If so, I think that is good idea. I have been using Pagid Yellows all around but am considering Orange in the back to bring up the heat in the rear (yes, you heard me correctly, I think the rears are running too cool, my rotors are wearing faster - and the pads less - in my rear brakes and it's not DSC, I drive DSC off 24/7/365 snow/rain/shine/track/street)... What brake pads were you using previously? What tires are you running?

Yes, rear pads are just a slight bit softer...that and they don't offer Ferodo pads for the rear on our car.
If you can believe it, I still had original pads and rotors from the factory on mine until now (40k miles). I am actually really surprised they lasted that long. I will be running the stock Bridgestone RFT's, same as last couple times. They have been fine for me the last couple times. Are you running OEM rotors Alex? Oh and thanks for the links, good stuff there! |

Not that applicable, but I run carbotech XP8 on the 318ti, and they are phenomenal. The dust and squeal, however, are out of this world... But the stopping power is phenomenal. Might have to try the StopTech on the next round - heard good things.

So FedEx lost my front pads and rear rotors....guess I may be going OEM from the dealer since I don't think I will get any others in time...and HPA is backordered on the Ferodos.

Racey, this is late in the game, but I hear NAPA also has decent rotors. Heard that from an SCCAer. I used those on my E90 and they are holding up well.

Anyone need a ride to Pueblo or want to caravan? I am meeting someone else at the Park Meadows Great Indoors parking lot if so...probably around 5am.

No worries - we'll meet sometime. Which class were you in?
Here's a vid I took during the second session. Wish the camera had worked during the later ones. |

Was in A class. Nice vid! I borrowed Forza's (Matt) go pro but I was a bonehead and never got it working right. I had figured it out by the 4th session, but I couldn't run then.
BTW, you passed my car in the pits (on the left) at 3:50 in your vid. |
