E91 rear chassis brace?
Hello,
I'm looking for the brace on a 2007 E91 which is Y shaped, goes under the differential and attaches to the body behind the diff and crosses underneath the corners of the fuel tank and attaches at the body just behind the rear lift points. Not having any luck so far with parts diagrams. Thanks! |

This piece has pretty much rusted through on my '08 E91. New OEM replacements are like $400-500, I'd be very happy with a used one, but struggling to source it. Ebay turns up tons of hits for the part off of slightly newer SUVs (like this from a 13-15 X1) that it says are compatible. Are these actually a drop in replacement on the E91? And is there another name that these things go by? I'm surprised there are so many newer ones listed but none off an E91.

If you follow the RealOEM link in the post above, then click on the part number, it will show you all vehicles that use the same part number.
Based on that, it appears to be a different part for the tension strut itself. |

It's definitely not the same exact part. The E91 version has a cross bar that makes it look more like an A than a V. But some database and at least one random ebay review claim that the X1 part fits E90s. I struggle to see it and was hoping to confirm.
I'm mostly just confused that I can't seem to find a used E91 version despite tons of options for the newer ones! |
