Had my M240i Xdrive now for 6 months and covered 2.6k miles.

Loving the car, so capable and composed. Although coming from an M140i I’m missing that edge when existing corners of the back end getting a little twitchy.

In fact I’m really struggling to get the thing to break traction at all, it’s just got so much grip especially with the wider Michelin PS 4S’s.

Is anyone else feeling the same? Existing round abouts full throttle in 2nd in the dry and zero slip, it’s like this things on rails.

It’s my first AWD car so maybe I just need to get usd to it. 🤷‍♂️

Mine slides around at half throttle if I throw it. I'll admit I'm a little shy to really huck it, but I've kicked the back out around a turn on accident more times than I've done it on purpose.

Usually 2nd gear and roll from about 30% throttle around 3k rpm to about 70% will do it if you have tc in sport traction mode. I've never turned it fully off.

My car has ZTK and about 12k miles on it now. Eventuri intake, AA downpipe, and JB4 but the car was able to slide around with just the intake. I have the car on map 0 about 85% of the time.

How many miles did you have to put on before you felt it loosing up a little?

Maybe I just need a few more miles on it and try it in DCT more often?

Did you find you could get slip before the intake? Maybe that’s livened the throttle response up a little?

This is why I got a RWD. Coming from a C43, it feels great to be able to get the tail end loose, and it is so easily controllable. Love this car.

Turn your mdrive pro down to 2-3.

Go for a drive.

Thank me later.

I have never had a problem with traction with my M240i xDrive. It could be the tires you're on. Coming with someone that tracks often, I can tell you that tires make the hugest difference. P Zero is a horrible tire so if you're on that then make sure to modulate the throttle. I recommend getting PS4S/PS4S Star for the road. Grip for days. Or Extreme Contact Sport.

I have PS4S now. Monday the Apex VS5RSs go on except they're wider so we're upsizing to 245/40r19 front and 275/35r19 rear. Should give more traction.

7-8k miles probably.

I didn't really push it other than in a straight line until I drove around 5k miles and I installed the intake the day after I took delivery.

It is on rails. That was part of the point of adopting the wider platform. With that said, if I turn off the traction control I have no trouble getting tail happy. And I am on the ZTK wheel package. Lastly, I have the most wheel spin when I am in manual mode.

did you had a chance to dyno your car before and /or after these mods? if so , what were your hp and torque figures ?
also did you had a chance to measure your drag times before and after the mods ?

Never had the car on a dyno.

Stock it's best time was a 12.1 & 114 with the draggy. I was having trouble using it in the beginning so I didn't really get a solid base to compare to other than that.

Since installing the mods and running map 1 on 93 shell fuel, the best time I pulled was 12.1 at 117 spinning through second gear on an air field.

This weekend I'll go out and try to get some better data. I'll make a YouTube video out of it and share the results here.

Sorry I don't have any better info, but based on the quarter mile calculators my car is somewhere between 435-475 hp at the crank based on what mph I'm trapping and the weight of the car.

those are some nice numbers, thank you! cant wait for your next test and video
yes, I should say with your mods, car should be more ~ the 475 hp at the crank mark, given that what we saw on youtube so far with the stock dyno tests for this B58 beast, the numbers are ~ 390-405hp at the wheel which translates to ~440 hp at the crank!

You're just being timid. Make a sharp turn and nail it in 2nd in Sport Manual w/TC off (quick press, not the long press). It will kick out and then straighten up a second later - it's addictive and safe at the same time. Just don't do the long press on the TC or you'll end up looking like a Mustang.

If you are not switching into Sport Traction mode, the car is doing exactly what it is supposed to. The car is designed so that anyone can floor the throttle at any time, even at a time when no knowledgeable driver would do so, and nothing bad will happen. Remember that the vast majority of drivers would poop their pants and take the car to the dealer complaining about it if the tail jumped out even for a second before the nannies kicked in.
