DTC Modes On/Off/ Totally Off?

Has anyone else experienced the DTC still kicking in while you have it deactivated? I read somewhere on this forum that it is possible to hold the button down and completely turn it off???? Is that correct? Thanks

Holding the button down turns everything off. Correct.

if you push it once you get the little DTC light... if you hold for X seconds you get the DTC light + the spinny tire light.

when a car reaches a speed of about 43 mph, normal DSC operation is reinstated until speed once again drops below this threshold, at which point DTC kicks back in.

What do you mean by that? From what I know, DSC is totally off if you press and hold the button for 3 seconds regardless of the vehicle speed.

I'm no expert but this is how I look at it
DTC is part of DSC....when deactivated, DSC is reinstated when speed reaches 43mph. Once DSC is reinstated...so does DTC
Once the speed drops below this treshold....DSC will remain deactivated, but DTC kicks back in.....

so bacisally.....you cant completely turn off the system
if we can completely turn this off....we'll be doing some badass drifting

I don't believe that 43 mph threshold is correct. When you fully turn it off, it's off.

When the car reaches 88 mph, you're going to see some serious sh*t....

OK...here's the source

What I said earlier is incorrect, but this is how it goes……

Source: BMW Innovation (date 2006) Page 24-25
BMW’s advanced control systems: Skidding has met its match
Last Paragraph:

“DSC incorporates DTC. This helps to provide improved traction by fine-tuning the system’s response to a variety of specific road conditions……blah blah blah…………………….
During sporty driving when you want controlled wheelspin, you can deactivate DSC with a flick of the consule switch (although the ABS system is always on). When DTC is selected, engine intervention is deactivated at low speeds, leaving only the individual brakes to control wheelspin. When the vehicle reaches a speed of about 43 mph, normal DSC operation is reinstated until speed once again drops below this threshold, at which point DTC kicks back in. At every speed, your BMW is actively working to stick to the road.”

I know E90fleet had talked about this before......time to do a search

10 seconds to hold the dtc button tc is compleatly off and no interferaqnce will occur at all, dtc on gives you ass wobble then gets it back but can be a hinderance at low speed on wet leaves because you willnot move! when it is on, thats the problem im getting atm when i drive to my friends house its coverd in wet leaves and i just wheel spin then dtc turns on bogs the car down and i barly move

takes longer than 3 secs for me =/ but ah well, imo tc off and doing a launch from 4k rpm wheelspin in 1st only and then when it gets to the redline change to 2nd and off you go dtc off boges the car down too much imo

Hello I just got my 2006 325XI and I am wondering is it normal for that triangle service light to come on when I press the DTC button?
