Jb4 tune??
Ok so I currently have a cobb stage 2+FMIC tune on my 335i but I’m thinking about switching to jb4. Are the jb4 tunes better than cobbs? Also I heard I can run e85 with the stock fuel pumps ?? Can someone running a jb4 enlighten me into the jb4 World. I would greatly appreciate it thank you.
Current modifications on car are. 2007 335i manual e92 Catless Downpipes. Charge pipe + bov. Dual intake. FMIC. |

On the JB4 just install, mix in some E85 maybe 5 gallons, select map5, and enjoy around 400whp. And when you go to normal pump gas the tuning will adjust automatically for it.

the jb off the shelf tunes tend to be more aggressive..ie make more power then the off the shelf cobb tune...
since you already have a cobb...i would suggest you just keep the cobb and get a custom tune from wedge or other tuners.

If you are switching tunes I would highly recommend MHD. Definitely a better platform than Cobb IMO.

I have a buddy with mhd stage 1+ FMIC on his 2011 335i n55 and his car is slower than mine. We basically have the same mods and same tune but mine is cobb stage 1+ FMIC. I don’t know if the difference it’s because of the different motors. But my car is faster. And I’m asking because I have 2 n54 bmws but only one cobb and I’m looking to buy another cobb or a jb4 for my other 335i so I just want to know if the jb4 would be better for making more power. I guess I have to try it I want to do 30%e85

i would just get mhd for the second car since its cheaper.. both mhd and cobb are ways of writting tunes to the ecu... the tune makes the power not the plateform.
cobb tends add lot of boost then taper to stock boost in the upper rpms.... jb4 and mhd tunes tend hold the higher boost longer.. thats why they more power in conparison.... but if your getting custom tunes then it doesnt matter

I think I’m gonna try the mhd then. I wasn’t sure if it was good because my buddy with his n55 didn’t feel that fast with his stage 1+ but I guess it’s because it’s a different engine. I’m gonna give it a shot then and does mhd offer a tune for 30% e85? I’d like to run that once in a while when I need the car in beast mode lol

Absolutely. I'd also recommend purchasing the monitoring/logging module to see how the tune is running.

Can you elaborate why it is "better"?

He can't. He's had a JB4 for 7 or 8 months and that's all he's had tunewise.

agreed logging is the most important.. it'll give insight into the condition of the engine more then the butt dyno

We've got a JB4 on one car and the MHD tune on the other two. If I was starting over again I'd go with the MHD. Reasons are initial cost and ease of install (don't have to mess with the DME). JB4 advantages are you can change things on the fly and has some nice features like the gauge sweep.
