Do front lips actually help with lift?

Hey guys,

I’ve had a light feeling in the car for a while now, just occurred it be lift happening at high speeds. I was wondering if anyone knew if these eBay / Amazon lips for the pre lci m tech front bumpers actually help with lift? Or if anyone knows or has a link to something that could help let me know! Thanks in advanced

Extremely tough for me to spend 400$ on fake carbon fiber lol

I am pretty sure the engineers that designed the e9X made it so the car is stable without any extra wings or splitters or whatever, do you think people without the m sport bumper take off at high speeds
Look at the m3 bumper, it doesnt have a splitter, aerodynamics dont work the way you think they do, your issue is caused by something else, not by a lack of an ebay lip...

The lips have become quite fashionable but they provide downward force. Although, the speeds that we drive, they don't do much but it's an aesthetics mod.

Maybe I should have explained more, I think im having lift issues because I can no longer use the the splash shields underneath because of my single turbo dump tubes.

I have literally rebuilt the entire front end of this car with m3 arms, upgraded sway, b8 struts and with aggressive street tires at 235mm. The only other thing is maybe I need more front tire but I really don’t know. Car feels light at the front end to me.

Light at what speed?
If it picks up suddenly at 100, 120 or so, probably is. But believe me, you will absolutely know I& it is front end lift, because it literally will feel like the PS pump turned up to 500 and the front end is on ice. My DSM would do it at 165+.

Yes those lips that “deepen” the chin add more drag but also help reduce lift. The dont create downforce but do reduce lift.

It’s at higher speed such as highway or high speed cornering I just feel like the front end isn’t there and doesn’t match the cars actual potential if that makes any sense. It’s not a sudden feeling of lightness but more gradual increasing with every mph,

I will say tho on WOT in 3rd the front feels exceedingly light

Thinking 235s are just too small?

Never had an issue with 235s in the front or 3rd gear WOT, but I'm not making single turbo numbers. Might be worth looking at a custom front splitter? What tire and alignment specs are you running?

Hey don’t have the exact specs on me but it’s max camber out front with pins pulled maybe like -1.5, same in the rear with a little toe in

Using federal 595rs-pro tires bought last summer

The front camber seems a bit excessive no? if it is gradual then to me it sounds like bad alignment, do you really think a 235 front tires are not enough for highway speeds? Most I have pushed my 325i is like 130 mph, I have never experienced loss of stability with my 225s, but my camber is like -0.5.

Since you mentioned (I assume legal) highway speeds and high speed cornering is where you can feel the problem, it doesn't really sound like an aerodynamic lift issue.

You are running some pretty aggressive semislicks and those can sometimes feel weird in every day situations. So probably the easiest thing to do would be to borrow some different wheels and try if the problem is still there.

Also since you mentioned WOT, my second thought would be rear suspension being worn or too soft and causing excessive weight transfer to the rear.
