SOUL | Chevy C8 Corvette Exhaust Unleashed!

Here is the @Street Speed 717 Corvette C8 with prototype SOUL HJS HD 200 cell catalytic converters and aggressive non-valved rear exhaust! We’ve unleashed the V8 roar without check engine lights while shedding 32 lbs. Loud outside, refined inside! We’re now working towards production and expediting heat shielding solutions.

We had one week with this development car which required all hands on deck and rapid prototyping. The valved exhaust is rather free flowing with valves open, and we wanted to craft an aggressive non-valved solution. This prototype is a split bank crossover design offering maximum flow and V8 rumble while shedding 20 lbs. This prototype retains use of slightly modified factory exhaust heat shields. We've heard rumors of GM discussing potential issues related to heat from modifying the exhausts with dealers and are taking every precaution to implement heat shielding into every solution.

The factory catalysts are the major choke point in the exhaust, and we use HJS HD 200 cell catalytic converters for their industry renowned quality and effectiveness at increasing flow without triggering a check engine light. A brazing stripe around HD cores prevents cat from being knocked loose from exhaust pulses while the triple metal matrix is designed around durability. HJS uses a premium wash coat abundant in precious metals to effectively catalyze while encouraging far greater flow than factory cats. Expect no check engine lights or noxious fumes.

I don't know about other factors, but those SOUL tips are 1000 times better than the OEM C8 exhaust tips

Thank you! We had limited time with this beauty, but we'll be sure to craft a few more options from stainless and titanium for the final result.

That sounds bad ass! Under throttle it sounds remarkably similar to listening to the C6R and C7R cars live roar by at Watkins Glen. Sounds better then my C6 with LG tubes, uncatted, NPP.

Now I’m sure you’re on the stock tune, how does the car run from idle to top end and everything in between?

Thank you! It feels very strong and has a great urgency to it. I guess the way to explain it is that it feels like how tight and responsive your car feels after a tune - but out of the gate. Great low end torque. We only put a few miles on it but it feels very well composed and you feel like you're at the heart of a machine in typical Corvette fashion.

Just out of curiosity as I’ll likely keep the exhaust I currently have but do you make for the C6? Don’t recall hearing the company name.

Idk if it's the engine or the exhaust, but this kinda sounds chainsaw-y to me. The Magnaflow system in TJ Hunt's video sounds better to my ears, cringey as he is.

No disrespect intended, I think Soul has some pretty awesome sounding systems for other cars. This is just giving me a vibe like the more recent turbocharged german V8s have, where it's kinda just a bunch of rumbly noise. Sure is pretty though.

Damn that sounds good. Sign me up. No idea wtf GM was thinking with those terrible looking square exhaust tips.

Agreed. Not appeasing. Hard to call that good when NA cars like the GT3, Huracan, GT350 exist. IMO my 991.2S or T turbo also still sounds better.

It's got the Porsche WHOOOOSH to it when shifting. I like it. It is a bit raspy though.

Thanks for the comments! We were asked to build an aggressive setup for Mike so this combination is on the extreme end of tone and volume. Choosing one exhaust mod will yield a more refined result. The sport catalytic converters alone will pair well with the factory valved exhaust.

Can the tips just be swapped out for yours? Are the 4.5”?

I did this with my 718 to get a double exit vs single outlet and really liked it. I didn’t want to change the sound, but definitely wanted to change the look.

At least on the valved exhaust the tips are welded on - as you can see in the pic below - unfortunately it would require a complete rear exhaust swap or modifying the factory exhaust.

Exactly, C7R was the first thing that I thought of(0:22 in video).

Almost Identical deep tone.

Well, I’m still status only 3000 so its not like I have a C8 yet. Who knows when the factory opens back either.
