Headlight shake?
I have 2010 e90 335i and the xenon headlights shake whenever I hit any kind of small bump in the road ( take note I live in NY and therfore a bump is hit every second). The beam of light shakes up and down which I have never had happen on any previous cars.
It seems as if the light bulb housing is loose. Is this common? Am I just acting crazy? |

There is an extra support that BMW included in a tsb update for e92. But I don't think the lights on the e90 have the same support. I would just give it the visual once over - I found screws loose on mine even AFTER the dealership installed the support

I do have adaptive healights . Is that the cause? I mean this is more of a rattle shake up and down not a smooth movement. |

I had a similar problem and took it to the dealer and I was told the automatic adjust mechanism was busted. They replaced the whole light. I lived with it for a few months b/c I figure it was just the Xenon which I hadn't had before. I actually figured out that it wasn't normal after having two loaners w/o the problem. Funny b/c the also left the support off when the installed the new light assembly and I had to take it back. Took me 3 trips to the dealer for them to get it right.
If they can't figure it out make them replace the whole assembly, it's really unacceptable. |

I have this same issue. I thought it was normal because I've never had Xenons before and I figured the cutoff line was just super sensitive to vibration. Driving on bumpy roads, the headlights vibrate and bounce up and down quite a bit. Also, they were aimed very low when I first bought the car a month back, and I had to raise both of them up. I have adaptive xenons, could the adjusters be broken or messed up?
My mom has the same car pretty much and I don't remember her headlights being like that. |

Just try tightening the screws in your housing, adaptive headlights should not be cause of them rattling as they work in conjunction with steering ratio; you mentioned they jiggle going over bumps and stuff. It should work! If not, there's always the dealership

Excellent advice you should also follow it...
Think man!!! Did you mean to say shakes not shacks? If it only happen when I hit a hole I wouldn't have posted about the problem. The headlight shakes on any kind of minor change in the road. I do realize if I hit a hole it would move. |

Where exactly are these screws that I should tighten? Back of the housing? Behind the bumper? |

My 2007 does it too. I see it if I make a not-so-smooth shift, or hit a bump in the road. Its my first car with Xenons, and I just figured it was normal. Now I wish I would have said something while the warranty was intact.
Oh well. I'll just pretend I didn't see this thread, and continue thinking its normal. |

there's a TSB out there for this problem. Had support brackets installed at dealer. Still shaking. Got all new headlights installed. Much better - still a little shaking though.
