Power seat problem. Cable broke, can't move back or forward. Need part numbers
Ok so I had something fall under the seat and then forced the seat to go. Long story short the cable that goes from motor that moves the seat front to back is broke and now only one side of the seat moves. I have sport seats.
I cannot find the part number anywhere! The cable is not listed on realoem.com. It's a cable with one square end (not sure about the other as I can't move the seat) that goes into motor #1 Edit: Fixed! BMW doesn't sell the cable and wants you to buy complete seat rails for around $400 I replaced the cable with an allen key. I cut off the angled part and used the "stick" after grinding it down with Dremel to fit. Still works good 2 years later Here's a picture of what I did Last edited by onebadmofo; 05-27-2012 at 02:43 PM.. |

Ok so I went through 3-4 different sites and ordered two cables. Both were wrong, they are for manual seats and not turning kind but push-pull. Part numbers were 52101977954 and 52108156199.
Any idea what part numbers I need? If I take the seat off would the cable have a part number on it? Last edited by onebadmofo; 01-10-2011 at 09:29 AM.. |

Like I said i have sport seats. I need the cable that with one square end (not sure about the other as I can't move the seat) that goes into motor #1 on diagram that I posted in OP.
The motor rotates the cable which in turn moves the track back and forth. |

Why don't you just call a dealership and get the part number (?)

Yes that motor! What does in rotate? It rotates a cable that in turn moves the seat on tracks thru long screw-like contraption I'd show you but my seat is stuck all the way back and I can't get to rear mounting bolts to take it off.
It's going to a dealer on 25th for the HPFP, I told them to check the seat too. |

Having the same problem. Car is under warranty but they don't want to cover it. They advised me to buy a new $600 seat rail, screw that. $1500 for complete install from them. |
