I did some fairly comprehensive testing is "sporty" vs valves fully open and like other cars the valve is throttled by software and rarely fully open and certainly never as loud as the valves fully open. Sporty closes the valves at cold start them opens it until the car is put in drive, then partially closes the valve. Best solution for this to have full control over the valves is using a product like the ASR BE1 or BE2 exhaust flap controller where you have full control over the exhaust flap(s) With ID8 according to Bimmercode: "Hi, ID 8 will be codable, but options are limited unfortunately. -- Kind regards / Schöne Grüße Stephan Gauch -- SG Software GmbH & Co. KG Linsenäcker 18/1, 72379 Hechingen" Before (sadly) trading my G42 I did a modification of the exhaust system which gave a good sound, it had quad pipes and one of the quads on the left side merged into the left pipe before the muffler and had an in line extra valve fitted so ending up with 2 valves and a much better sound, similar to what an M Performance exhaust would be but with the advantage of stock when it was closed |

Unfortunately the tips are custom ceramic coated and the system was done by a good friend who is a custom builder. If you lived near Brisbane Australia I could give you the details but it's not a bulk manufacturing mode as it needs cutting in by a really good shop.
If anyone wants I can write up a description of how to do it but you might be better off with an M Performance exhaust and a y split dual tips welded to the M perf. If its appearance only you could do that with the stock setup |

Just checked with BimmerCode customer services and there is still no estimate for when iDrive 8 coding will be available

I would like a solution for this other than pressing the auto shutoff button every time I start the car. This is the only real annoyance left once I got the lane assist to stay off.

If anyone remembers the saga with my m performance shift knob breaking my center control unit, I've become pretty scared to mess with electrical stuff. I'll have to look further into it I guess. |

You're not limited to the G20 in BimmerCode, you can play around with the other G cars. Just disable CarPlay and put your phone on Airplane mode during the flash, and stay out of Expert Mode and you'll be fine. |

Yes, the xHP allows you to disable auto start/stop. However, I'm speaking from an iD7 car, so if you have iD8 you may want to double-check its compatibility.

It’s shouldn’t be any issue. S/s is very responsive and I find it almost unnoticeable. You can of course just switch it off using the button when you need to.

Hi, we are working on it, but meanwhile you can use the G20 selection. The G20 and G42 share the same ECUs. -- Kind regards / Schöne Grüße Stephan Gauch -- SG Software GmbH & Co. KG Linsenäcker 18/1, 72379 Hechingen |

FWIW, Auto start/stop memory is working on my iDrive 8 M240, coded via iPhone. I forgot where the exact setting is located, but it’s right next to the option where you disable auto start stop (which does not work). I selected G20 when coding.
So far I have gotten into the car twice since coding and ASS remained off after I initially disabled it. |
