Price for 335i
Hi guys,
New here and im looking at purchasing a 335i. I have looked at a few which i feel are overpriced for the general used car market etc at present but just wanting to get a feel of what other think a car might be worth. Im looking at an 08 335i steptronic with about 30000km's on it and M sport pack. Most sellers are looking at around 68-72k mark for one of similar spec however i feel it should be priced around the $62k mark at best? |

You may feel that way, but the fact is if you want a 335 M-Sports with lowish kms like 30k then you will need to fork out the dosh. If the car has done over 50k+ then i would say low 60's to high 50's. I had an 08 Msports 335 brand new, just pay a little more and enjoy the damn car, make sure to stock up on fuel pumps as well.

MOST sellers are asking higher... so that means the MARKET says it must be worth higher... so why is your assessment better than the market??
My price puts a 2010 M3 in my driveway at 90K - but the market says 120k... who do you think is right?

Prestige Auto Traders recently had a same spec model for sale on carsales for $68k, they got this vehicle wholesale for about $57k then factor in their margin etc.
Sellers usually put up the price of their car based on what other sellers have them at, give or take a few $k. They aren't the market the market is where buyers and sellers meet on price. I've looked at redbook (which has to many variables) and also what they seem to be getting wholesaled at. Im not trying to start an arguement, just get a feeling for a fair market price on a vehicle |

So you need to go to a motor auction and take your chances..
The market is what the majority of sellers are selling at - not what you want to pay.

Redbook is unreliable.
2008 BMW 335i E92 Coupe M sport * Private Price Guide $55,400 - $60,700 * Average Km 40,000 - 70,000 That price is far from reasonable! For three months, I wasn't able to find a decent 2008 335i E92 M sport for less than 64k. (and that's after negotiation). |

That is a lot of car you are asking to pay $62K for. Pay the extra and be happy knowing you have a low, low km car with lots of life still left in it.
When you average the extra over the life an average person keeps a vehicle for, who gives a shit.

I just bought a 2007 (MY08) 335i Auto E92 with 32,000k's for $56,800 (drive away).
Came with some pretty good options too, active steering, paddles, heaps of other stuff but i think a lot of the options are standard on the 335. You've just gotta be patient. Something will come up, I bought my car from pickles auctions. After watching it not make reserve every week for a few weeks, they eventually put it up at a fixed price. |

m-sport will make sweet f-all difference to private resale price, it wasn't even an expensive option when new. Plus, the new model is getting a big price haricut, which means resale will also take a hit for current owners. |

OP, I would just get the base model. You don't want to pull up next to an M3 and have him look at you like a wannabe...

Yup, got to be patient and find the right car with a realistic seller. Some private sellers will hang out, waiting for the $70k offer, but they will be waiting a long time....
Dealers, will of course be slightly dearer than private sales, but some buyers find them easier. Owners on here are understandably a bit biased because they'd like to think their cars are worth a bit more, but I've always found the redbook values to be accurate. BMW recently slashed the price on new 335's which is also going to hurt everyone. I picked up my 335i for $15k below asking price and the M3 $11.5k below asking price and it was already the best value M3 on carsales with only 12,000km, just to give you an idea of asking price versus market value |

If your lucky you may get a real nice deal, but if all your after is just another jo blow 335 that has been knocked around you would not want to pay much for it
i found that most are just that, But if you want a mint as new bla bla then pay the money |

So true Skycat,
I'm new here too, bought my 08 335i MSpt, for $55k 26kms. I know ludicrous!. It was from a dealer and in the dirtiest condition imaginable (Just traded). But underneath the 2mm of grime was a pristine beauty, that now after experiencing the car for 2 months, I would pay at least up to 65k. Easy for me to say, but I'm being totally honest. It's a sublime ride that's seriously worth it's new car price. (would prefer euro or states pricing though). My point is be patient and smart about a choice. Good luck!! Pics soon, when I work out what the hell is a photos URL address??? Last edited by Max335; 01-28-2012 at 09:20 PM.. Reason: better |

Just upload the jpg files instead of using an URL
FYI photo URL address means you have hosted the images somewhere else and you just have to put the URL. |
