Getting Thor adapter to connect to INPA
My shoddy looking DCAN cable from a mystery source finally spat the dummy today.
Trying to clear flat tire monitor/ RPA warning after tires changed with my iDrive button pretty much dead. I have an old XP laptop I've kept the Standard Tools/ INPA/ ISTA on, and has been using the USB cable with. Not to worry I thought as I have a Thor wifi adapter I have used with the MHD app previously, and found the instructions for revising the EDIABAS settings to allow it to connect. However, first after having changed the Api32.dll for the replacement file and updated the EdiabasLib.config file, I was getting VC++ related errors. I have reinstalled an XP suitable version of the Visual basic C++ redistributable, and INPA opens fine now but I still can't get it to recognize the connection. The laptop wireless adapter is connecting fine with the SSID THOR_WiFi that I have entered into the .config file, but INPA just displays cable connected: no, with frequent flickering. My app will happily connect to the Thor adapter and read codes so it isn't a faulty adapter. Laptop is set to obtain IP address, not on a static IP. Any suggestions? |
