Folding mirrors

When I press the button to fold my mirrors in it only folds the driver side mirror. When I move it over to passenger side it still doesn’t close but closes the drivers side no matter what one is selected. I can still adjust the passenger mirror and when I put it in reverse it moves the mirror down.

Most likely a bad 'folding' motor or a broken wire to the motor.

well consider yourself lucky the driver side hasn't failed you yet... and it will. When it does the mirror will not stop at the correct spot and give you constant trouble a huge defect on this car

At least the important bits of mirror adjustment still work. But yea the folding motor bit sounds broken buttons inside won't change the brokeness.

Just an FYI, the fold button does both mirrors at once, no need to toggle it between left and right. That only affects the adjustment dial.

Sounds like your passenger folding mechanism needs attention.

Pop the back off and check for a broken wire. Does it move by hand? It may be frozen for some reason???

If it’s a broken wire or motor can I replace these?

I know my motor on my drivers side appears to be stripped out. Doesn't rotate down when in reverse like the drivers side, even when I select that side and when folding in, I hear a clicking and it appears to hang up.

Wire should be easy to repair, I don't know about motor. The entire unit is cheap and easy to replace though, just diagnose it better before throwing $$$ at it.

The mirror does move by hand. I will try and get the cover off. Any tips to getting the cover off without damaging it?
