I placed my order back in February. Made a couple changes over the past couple months. The last order sheet showed wireless charging as a N/C. Made last change this past Saturday and the new order sheet showed wireless but at a $500 charge. The website builder also now shows wireless charging for $500 in the option section. My CA confirmed this and said they were unaware of this cost addition. I told him to remove from my build as it is not worth $500.
For those with orders you didn’t change, make sure they didn’t tack on the additional cost. If you do make a change to your order, it may force this additional cost onto the build. Just wanted all to be aware.

I had this issue when I got my car last Friday. They told me they would reach out to BMW to see about a $500 credit but I wanted to take the car home so I didn't care at that point. I doubt I will get it back though.

Also they will add it on and wont know. My CA told me he had no clue. Maybe that will change after the first few he sells has the same thing lol

I added it at the end of Jan, it shows n/c. I have it on my revised & signed copy of my build & purchase contract. I made sure my dealer always provided an updated purchase contract with any changes I made. They can't change thier mind unless they want to violate the contract.

I ordered my car in December and added this feature before it became a $500 option. Once the car was built and shipped, it was added to the sticker price. I negotiated with my dealer and they took $500 off to accommodate.

When I ordered the car, the feature was not included in the build. Based on advice I saw on this forum, I asked my CA if we could add it (I had also added Adaptive Cruise Control, which was deleted later of course). He was able to add wireless charging (6NW) as a no charge feature. Also, in the BMW tracker, it showed up as a standard feature.

Sometime in late March or early April, 6NW became an option you could select on the configurator, and I noticed on the BMW tracker, it had moved from the standard features section to the options section. This was after my car had already completed assembly.

I'd pay them £500 to remove wireless charging! Unfortunately in the UK it's required if you opt for the "technology pack" which I really wanted for the rear view camera and parking assistant.


But I will rarely use the wireless charging due to how hot it makes my phone! Makes me think something isn't right.

Not that it matters much, but for that $500 you're also getting the Wi-Fi hotspot.

I would say that because of the way the cup holders are set up it's not practical to put the phone at that phone rest with the usb cable. With wireless CarPlay, I just end up putting the phone in the arm rest since it has a usb c port inside.

was free when I ordered my Vehicle, but parts issue so didn't receive.. and who cares. We have one in my wife's SUV, haven't used it in 2 years

ordered mine in February, production started mid-march (pretty sure a week 11 build per dealership) i had just assumed wireless charging was standard or included in premium package. after visiting this page i guess i'm not alone. i've been watching YouTube videos for months on this car and not a single one does not have this included and it clearly was not an option to choose when building. would love to hear if anyone has success getting a credit for it.

I have the wireless charger option that costs $500, and I can tell you it's not good at all. Charges extremely slowly and phone gets very warm.

On the other hand I also got the adaptive cruise control feature, and it's much better than I expected on the freeway. My car was built in January, and as of now the feature can no longer be added by dealer and will be taken off if you had it on order.

I was able to have my CA remove the wireless charging since I'm back to waiting for a new production date. Even if it worked well I wouldn't add it for that price. It was a crap move for BMW to add it to orders without asking. I'm guessing they're planning on adding it as standard on the 23 model.

I'm going to ask for them to take it off my build, too. Bummer that adaptive isn't available, even though I'd likely never use it

So I have the Samsung 15W wireless charger. If I put my phone on that charger, then put it on the BMW wireless charger in the car, the time to reach full battery is about 3x longer. This tells me the BMW charger is 5W, which yeah, is not great. The USB C port in the storage compartment under the armrest is 3A, which means it can deliver about 15W, so that's the fastest charging option.

Keeping on topic I also dropped the wireless after it was added on from factory as a pay off. Now I'm back to 111 status..

You don't only get a "Wireless Charging" plate with this option, you also get an independent internet connection to vehicle's infotainment system, so you can use any of the internet-dependent widgets such as Spotify (or most music apps) in real-time or utilize any Wi-Fi capable devices such as a radar detector or, without the need for a cellphone tethering.
