Battery Charger

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
New to BMW ownership so just want to clear something up about battery chargers (like a CTEK 7002). Are these necessary for someone who drives to work every day and possibly takes a week long vacation a couple times a year. happy to drop $100+ for something like this but didn't if it was an urban legend of BMW ownership or mainly for people who have a BMW as a second car or dont drive often. Thanks.

agree with this but if you want peace of mind may be a lithium battery jump starter. I bought one during all the lockdowns and only spend AUD $99. I only used it once to help my next-door neighbour jump start his car and helpmate charge his phone on a road trip.

They are small and compact and it just lives in the boot and charges of the 12v socket if required after a jump start.

If I only use it onces its $99 insurance well spent

I have one of these (NOCO GB40), but rarely use it. I also have a boat and that is the main reason I bought it. I did start a stranger’s car in a parking lot and he insisted on giving me $20, so that was a win, lol.

I've had numerous BMWs and I've had them sit for weeks at a time without driving due to vacations/family commitments and I've never had any issues.

Just started my M240i after sitting in the garage for 5 weeks because we were away. It cranked normally and started right up.

5 weeks?! That is very dangerous to let your car sit unattended for that long… you should have called me, I would have started it up and took it around the block a few times for you!

Lol jk but it's nice to know the battery didn't drain, my current car would be fully dead if I left it that long

Yeah, my wife suggested I call up our son and have him take it for a spin. I was horrified.
